This is my personal 9 foot 5 weight Sage SLT fly rod. It is in excellent condition. Silver fittings are moderately tarnished but no apparent dents/breaks; cork is somewhat soiled but complete and otherwise in great shape. Rest of rod is in just great shape. SAGE 5126-4 Z-AXIS Spey, Two Handed, Fly Rod
Up for Bids today we have a nice example of a Sage Z-axis 5126-4 Spey rod. That is a 12 foot 6 inch rod that casts a 5 weight Spey line. This rod is in excellent used condition with no scratches on the blank and a very minor mark on the reel seat. The cork is sound and is only slightly discolored. This 5 weight spey rod is great for Summer Steelhead or large Trout fishing out west. As well as summer grilse in the Atlantic. I used a RIO AFS 4/5 head on this rod and it would cast great. Look up this rod on the speypages.com for more information about its uses. This one is described as small but mighty! Great fun in the summer! Does not come with a warrenty card. Excellent condition Sage SP390 Graphite IV Fly Rod with Sage rod bag and tube. The rod has the usual normal wear marks on butt and blank but absolutely no damage. The rod is functionally like it was when it was brand new. The tube however has a lot scuff marks from storage but it is also perfect in functionality. I got the rod used on the bay when I lived in proximity to bigger waters where 9' rods were commonly used. I now fish primarily smaller wild trout streams with smaller bamboo rods. Sage Z-Axis 11 foot 5 weight Switch Rod Comes with Rod Sock and Sage Original Rod Tube Original Retail Price $715.00 This is a USED Sage Z-Axis 5110-4(11 foot 5 weight 4 piece) switch rod. They no longer make this model. You will pay $850.00 to buy either of the rods that have replaced the Z axis(TCX or ONE) Sage also does not make 11 foot switch rods anymore. Anything longer than 11 feet is not really a switch rod but just a short spey rod. This rod can easily be used for single hand overhead casting or line it up with a spey line and cast it two handed! The rod has been used and has some cosmetic imperfections. The cork is in fantastic shape and has NO cracks or chips. It is darkened slightly by use but is in otherwise great shape. The reel seat has a small 1 milimeter scratch where you can see some silver through the black but the scratch ... moreis very small. There is some small cosmetic scratching on the butt section but nothing that imacts the integrity of the rod. The top wrap on the butt section has some discoloration on one side. I do not know what caused the discoloration but the thread is lighter on one side(visible in pictures 6 and 8) The next section up from the butt section is in great shape. Section 3 has some minor scratching as does the butt section and the top guide wraps have similar discoloration to the butt section. The tip section is in great shape. The rod tube is in good shape but has several stickers on it from shipping. This rod casts like a champ. If you are looking for a TRUE switch rod this is your rod. Sage is a great rod builder and they stand behind their product. This rod retailed for $715.00 and was worth every penny. Sage GFL 480 RPL Graphite lll Fly Rod
Up for sale is a beautiful near mint Sage 480 RPL fly rod from the classic Sage Graphite III era of late'80s and early'90s. This med/fast action is a pleasure to cast and can still hold it's own against today's fast action rods. I found the 8 foot 4 weight configuration a great all around rod and this one has always treated me well. The rod was fished and it has very minor signs of wear but absolutely no damage to blank or reel seat. The rod will be shipped with original cloth rod bag and tube as shown in pics. SAGE LL 389-3 Fly Rod 8'9" 3 Wt Custom *BEAUTIFUL* Light Line
I am selling a bunch of custom rods from a guy that does about 20-30 per year. He does it for his therapy and then purges a bunch at a time. He does fish some of them. But there are so many, that no one man can put that many hours on that many rods. He learned to wrap rods from the local fly shop owner and rod builder, so he knows all of the tricks of the trade and has improved on some. He specializes in larger, saltwater rods, so they are built better than any factory rod and uses top end components. He seals the cork grips to protect from body oils, dirt and fish slime, which is why most of the cork is slightly off color. He also reinforces the ferrules on most of the rods with thread wraps the length of the ferrule. I am a big fan of the Sage LLs and have four models myself, including this one. This rod appears to be like new and I could ... morenot find any marks or scratches. I like the grip on this one because it is larger than the tiny little weiner versions that Sage put on the factory rods. Check out some of my recent feedback on this guy's rods. Sage light line 2 wht fly rod
this is a a sage light line 2 wht 7'10" 2 piece fly rod that I built in the late 80s. This is one of the so called"blem" blanks that sage let out back then. I must have wrapped at least a dozen of these, and never could discern what the blem was. This rod is in great condition as it was rarely fished. The primary wraps are gold and the trim bands are brown the blank is burgandy, the grip is a superfine and it has a cork reel seat. I have also listed a hardy flyweight reel that I used on this rod in another auction. Thanks for looking
