Sage RPLXi 1290-3 fly rod for Tarpon and other large game fish
I am offering my Sage 12 weight three piece fly rod for sale. It is in excellent condition and has been used to land Tarpon. Dorado and Sailfish. I switched to the RPLXi3 four piece a couple of years ago and no longer need this rod as a back-up. The rod has been cared for by a very OCD fisherman and is in excellent condition. Of course it comes with original sock and rod tube.

SAGE 366 LL FLY ROD with tube & sock
This is a very nice example of the Sage LL line of rods. It is a factory Sage Graphite lll GFL 366 LL rod. This is a 6'6" beauty that is for#3 line and weighs 2 oz. I don't think I will be using a 3 wt. again and here is your chance to pick up a fairly rare size rod in the legendary LL line. This rod is a pleasure to cast and can make longer casts when needed. The rod is in great used condition and I have dried and cleaned it after each use. It has marks on the reel seat and the cork has darkened somewhat. The rest of the rod is unmarked. The tube has one dent near the end next to the cap and other signs of being taken on numerous fishing trips. The sock looks good and has years of life left in it. Fantastic shooting head rod for long casts on big rivers but will also cast mid spey lines with ease and roll sunk lines to the surface, which some scandi type rods struggle to do. A reasonable casting technique and 680 to 700 grams of shooting head will fly. The rod is not made from thin walled blanks and is very durable, an important consideration when fishing in the middle of nowhere. Difficult to get hold of this rod now. It has been at least 40 years since I used a fly rod and have never had the privledge of using one of this quality, so most of the information I am providing came from reading right off the equipment or from on-line research. The RPLB designation indicates that this was a Sage blank that was custom wrapped. It appears to me that the wrapping was done beautifully. There are virtually no signs of use or wear on this equipment. Everything seems to work as it should and the only cosmetic defect is a little chipping around the area where the two sections of the rod join. If you have any questions about these items. Up for auction is a Sage B476SFL fiberglass fly rod from of my personal collection. This is a 2 piece rod. 4wt, 7'6" A little bit of history. Sage manufactured fiberglass rods from 1978/79-83. Sage started out in 1978 as Winslow. But later changed their name to Sage due to a similar name to Winston Rods. This being said my rod is silk-screened"Sage" so it was manufactured somewhere between 1979-83. My rod was manufactured as a blank, which is represented by the"B" It was"built up" by a rod builder from Saginaw, MI in the mid-80s. I don't know any history on the rod builder. I have personally fished the rod once. Other than that it hadn't been used in 20 yrs. Overall its in good condition. I have fished it from a boat for half a season. About twenty times. The case has a slight mar at the tip from standing against the floor. SAGE XP 890-4 Fly Rod 9' 8 Wt Custom *BEAUTIFUL*
I am selling a bunch of custom rods from a guy that does about 20-30 per year. He does it for his therapy and then purges a bunch at a time. He does fish some of them. But there are so many, that no one man can put that many hours on that many rods. He learned to wrap rods from the local fly shop owner and rod builder, so he knows all of the tricks of the trade and has improved on some. He specializes in larger, saltwater rods, so they are built better than any factory rod and uses top end components. Most of the rods have at least two, if not three stripper guides. He seals the cork grips to protect from body oils, dirt and fish slime, which is why most of the cork is slightly off color. He also reimburses the ferrules on most of the rods with thread wraps the length of the ferrule. This XP looks barely used and is absolutely gorgeous. Classic 2-piece. 8-foot, 5-weight Fly Rod from the GFL/ Graphite II line from Sage. Rod comes with original sock and Sage tube. As shown. Tip piece is brand new(factory replaced by Sage after last Montana trip) Butt piece has a few surface scratches. Doesn't impact rod performance. Reel seat(black anodized aluminum) is in great condition but has a scratch. Grip cork is in great condition(no nicks) but shows that the rod has obviously been fished.
