Here is a great outfit for throwing big bugs and heavy streamers for large trout. Smallmouths, carp or other big nasty freshwater fish. We start with a Sage Vantage 7 weight 4 piece rod and add a G Loomis Vantage reel with a premium fly line and backing. The outfit comes with a Sage combo nylon covered tube which allows you to keep the reel attached to the rod(note that the tube says it is for a Sage"Flight" but the rod is a Sage"Venture" This rod has a fighting butt, full wells grip and aluminum reel seat. I have a buddy of mine who purchased the 9’ 7 weight as a streamer rod that I did get a chance to fish. He lost his Z Axis overboard in the stone and found himself in need for a backup quick and on the cheap. This is a great. First quality 10 wt. I bought this new for tarpon and giant snook and haven't fished them much. It is a great casting rod. The Xi2's have become sought after because they are a little softer than the later Xi series rods and in my opinion, cast a little more delicately if you can say that about a 10wt. This rod has been fished a couple of times and has been strung up 6 times and ridden in the boat without being fished. The line is perfect and is up lined one level to 11. It casts beautifully. Great for Tarpon, Giant Snook or Salmon. The reel is perfectly matched to the rod and has a huge and effective drag knob. The line is a Scientific Anglers Mastery Salt Water Foating line. Here for your consideration is an AWESOME custom-built Sage Z-Axis fly rod. Built on the 390-4 blank. It's 9 feet long, 4-pieces, for 3 weight fly lines. As you can see, it's quite a beautiful rod! I had it built to my specifications using nothing but the best components money can buy. The reel seat is the now discontinued Struble D-20 downlocking in darkened nickel silver with a gorgeous amboyna wood insert. The cork handle is a flor-grade REC 6 1/2" with a Struble stepped dark nickel silver winding check. Rounding out the components, the rod has a darkened nickel stainless steel hook-keeper, one#12 Fuji Titanium stripping guide with SiC insert, 9 Snake Brand darkened nickel stainless snake guides and matching Snake Brand tip-top. Primary thread wraps are Fish Hawk dark green#896 with Pro Wrap Gold#9130 and Dark Red#9750 trim ... morewraps at the logo and each ferrule sleeve. I have not fished it yet- but I have cast it a few times in my back yard pool. It handles and casts beautifully! The rod comes complete with a green Ross Evolution LT fly reel, size 1.5 with a like new Rio Gold#3 floating fly line and a nice Rio 5x leader with tippet, all a perfect balance and visual match for the rod. It is ready to fish! This rod is a dry fly machine, perfect for spring creeks or anywhere you need to delicately present a dry fly. Of course, it will cast a nymph and indicator as well! Rounding out the package is a nice Sage rod/reel canvas cordura case. The case looks black in the pictures, but is actually a very dark green in color. Factory-built Sage Z-Axis 3 weights are very difficult to find these days, but here is a rod with even nicer componentry than Sage provides in their rods and even more importantly, it has the custom look! This is a spare spool for a Sage 106M 6 weight fly reel that I bought as part of a Sage"Discovery" rod and reel combo in the early 90's. I fished the rod and reel. With the spare spools, in the Eastern Sierra for half a dozen years or so. I've got the fly reel and another spare spool listed on E Bay right now, so you might check my other listings. This spool is loaded with a Wet Cell WF-6-S sinktip II line. It's got 150 yards or so of 20# backing under the line.

Sage 106 M Fly Reel loaded with dry fly line
This is a used Sage 106M fly reel. I got it as part of the purchase of a Sage"Discovery" 6 weight rod and reel combo back in the early 90's. I fished it for half a dozen years or so. Always gave reliable service and was a good reel for a novice fly caster. It shows signs of wear-you scramble around stream banks or in and out of float tubes and the reel will pick up a scratch or two. The reel is loaded with a WF-6-F floating fly line and 150 yards or so of 20# backing. I'm selling two spare spools for this reel loaded with sink tip lines. So check my other listings. While cosmetically it's not"show room new" it still functions nicely. I've caught many a trout in the Eastern Sierra with it.

Sage 505L Fly Fishing Reel - NO RESERVE
WOW! This is a Sage 505L Reel made by Hardy in England. Hardy made this reel for Sage and modeled it after the Hardy JLH Reels. This reel is in great shape! Spool is almost perfect. But the frame does have some wear on the rim(see pictures) This reel would complete any 5 or 6 weight outfit. The reel is a click and pawl style and has an adjustable tension knob. It is currently set up for Right Hand Wind. But can be converted by simply switching"on" the other pawl, and backing"off" the other. Then, all you need to do is reverse the line guard on the frame. The reel is fully machined. It also has the black circular plastic cover up piece on the frame which gets often lost on these reels. No case or box is included and there is no warranty.
