Yourself, you will understand that you can't fish them all and, unless you have an endless bankroll, some must go. I have a number of rods that put me in a position of overlap and I'm culling the herd. The LL series is also a collector's rod so I am listing it here in anticipation that some of you will appreciate it and FISH IT more than I am able to. Generally, I gush about fly rods. Partly this is because of a fly-fishing passion, but more significantly it is because lately the rods I am saying goodbye to are the best of the rods that I have had. A name we all know, but is manufactured in Japan(reel) and Scotland(rod) The rod is 8’6” in length and breaks down into 2 pieces. The condition of the rod is fair. The reel seat is in good shape as is the cork(has a few pockets) but the finish is where I would use the“fair” term. There are some water marks here and there and some scratches present throughout the rod. I see some chipping in one small spot on the rod. All of this is not significant to the performance of the rod just more of an eye soar. I did take this rod out back and it cast very well. I would call it a med/fast action rod. I have a number of rods that put me in a position of overlap and I'm culling the herd. The LL series is also a collector's rod so I am listing it here in anticipation that some of you will appreciate it and FISH IT more than I am able to. Generally, I gush about fly rods. Partly this is because of a fly-fishing passion, but more significantly it is because lately the rods I am saying goodbye to are the best of the rods that I have had. I hate to do this but I am selling my beloved 0-weight fly rod. The rod is a custom made rod built on a 6 piece Dan Craft Signature IV blank. The rod comes in at 7’6” and the full rod weights less than 2 ounces by itself. The reel is a J. A. Forbes Magnesium fly reel that comes in at 2.2 ounces. The reel is spooled with backing and half of a Sage double taper 0-weight fly line. Only half of the line is spooled to shave off weight and because you will not need to cast this rod over 40’ as it is. This rod is extremely soft. A nice bluegill or small bass bend this rod almost to the handle. The softness of the rod will help protect those delicate tippets. I am selling this rod to make room for new toys and because I rarely fish it. If I had a nice small trout stream at my disposal. Sage 5400 Fly Fishing Reel and Extra Spool NR
The Sage 5400 reels and spools are machined from solid Aluminum bar stock and have a heavy anodized finish. Thicker than most. They were designed to hold up to saltwater use. The drag system is cork to spool. As you can see the spool is compressed against the cork drag surface through the use of a draw bar and adjustment knob. Nice click both in and out, which is what I want in a reel. I prefer the Sage adjustment knob as well, which has a safety device to stop it from going into the water. There is no screw lock to drop in the rocks when you change spools. The reel is finished with a gold anodized drag knob and a rosewood handle. My reels are set for left hand retrieve, but can go RHW. Rim control feature too. Both reel and spool are vented and have counter-balances. This reel is used but not abused and has been well maintained on as needed ... morebasis.
