The cork is darker than new from use and age, some call this soiled) I show the cork all the way around in the photos and the color is pretty uniform all the way around. As for the rod, all the eyes and the joint is good and the rod lacks the luster of a new rod. If you want a new looking wall hanger you should pass. I think I have done a decent job of showing what the rod looks like in the photos and the description. Study the photos and make your own judgment before bidding. I am not an expert on fly rods or fly fishing, everyone here tells me I need a 7wt. fly rod so that is what I am going to buy. Rare Sage LL 486-3 Fly Rod with Blank Warranty Card Beautiful Excellent Cndition
This is a beautiful used Sage LL Fly Rod. Graphite III construction. Three piece. Eight and a half foot for four weight. Cork is barely soiled as this rod has only seen the water a handful of times. Seems I neglect it so it should be in the hands of someone who will give it water time. There are a some slight scratches to the reel seat end but these could be buffed out. Amazingly, the nickel silver is still pretty shiny. Maybe not as bright as the showroom days but still looks really nice. I have gone over the rod and cannot see any scratching or dings to the blank. There is barely any indication that the rods ferrules have ever come together as I always kept a good layer of wax on them. This has the split ring hook keeper as well. All wraps in great shape. No chunks out of the cork. The tube shows wear but is perfectly round. Cap fits perfectly ... moreand still has the rubber seal. And the most amazing part is that I never filled out the original warranty card so that comes with it as well. Sage Bluegill 7'11" 4pc. This is the original bluegill. Not the bluegill 2. Throws a loop like a razor blade through butter, the Bluegill 2 does not cast as well. I liked this rod so much I fished it in coldwater, warmwater, and saltwater situations, using 3 8wt lines I selected over time that match perfectly with the rod. The first is the bass taper included with the rod. This line is sage branded but made by Rio. Great for accurate casts with big flies and 1 false cast. Next is the Rio Grand 8wt, insane for chucking streamers off a drift boat or raft, great tactic for streamer trout floats. Rigged on the Evolution 3(did I mention how sweet these are? is Rio Redfish. If you like to paddle around mangroves looking for tails, this is a great tool for that. This is from Sage's Graphite IV Series and is popularly known as the Euro series for their fact action. The 7141-4. While popular in its day, has recently begun to be recognized for its capability as a shooting head rod. Sage SLT 590-4 Fly Fishing Rod in excellent shape. 9' 4 piece 5 weight. Comes with warranty card. Lightly used and in great condition. It has some marking to the reel seat wood from putting reels on it(see pics) I have lawn cast this a few times and have fished it a few times only. This is a really nice all around fly rod. Probably would be my favorite if I was still fishing graphite but I fish almost only bamboo now. Comes with original sock and tube. Well cared for. Edit- Just a note- the cork looks darkened in some of the photos but it really has very little discoloring from being handled/cast. It has been stored in the tube for at least the last 2-3 years.

I am selling my much loved Sage RPL+ 6 weight rod. I am currently not able to fish as much as I would like so when I do I tend to favour my 4 piece Sage Z-axis rod. This 2 piece RPL+ has a lovely fast action and is certainly able to load well with say a 7 weight line so gives greater versatility for larger waters. As a 2-piece it is not suitable to fit into your average backpack or suitcase so not ideal as a travelling companion! If you travel to local fishing spots then the strong aluminium tube gives you all the rod protection you need in transit and the extra length won't be a problem for the bus/car or train ride.

See photos showing actual items for sale. Excellent condition overall. Only one small cosmetic mark on the rod blank. Which you can see just to the left of the letter“S” in'Sage' in the butt secion in Photo#3. Ferrules and guides are perfect.
