This rod has only been on two occasions. It was cast into a lake once and into a stream once-never on lawn. Total of about 15 min. I am a light line trout fisherman who thought that bass fishing would happen if I bought a bigger rod. Well. I just don't pick the rod up. I fish a z-axis 3wt 9' and love it. This x has been anodized, is difficult to see and in no way affects the function of the reel seat. The rod tube cap has been replaced and the rod tube has a few scratches and marks from being bumped in my rod closet. Still bright and shiny like it once was when new, the heavy duty up-locking reel looks great and continues to function perfectly as well. A close review of the rod's glossy brown finished Generation IV graphite blank from tip to butt reveals only a scant handful of very minor rubs and nominal surface scrapes in the expected high traffic areas. This is a like new top of line Sage XP fast action 8 weight 4 piece travel rod in the 9 foot 6 inch length that I bought for a trip to Chistmas Island two years ago.
