The Sage GFL Series 14'0" ... more3-piece 10-weight Spey Rod being auctioned here is in remarkably handsome condition given its obvious age. As the photos show. The upper and lower cork grips display a modest bit of faint staining from previous handling, but remain overall void of any major chips, gouges, or excessive missing fill. The cork reel seat with down-locking anodized aluminum hardware remains sturdy and tight, still looks great, and functions perfectly too. A close inspection of the rod's classic brown blank from tip to butt reveals no sign of catastrophic abuse like deep scratches. Scores, or penetrating nicks that would in any way hint its original strength or integrity as compromised. And a close review of the rod's guides shows no trace of tarnish, rusting or oxidization present, with no grooving, deformation, or misalignment found. A quick test-assembly and deep flexing of this rod confirms all ferrules as still snug fitting. With no wobble, twist, looseness or other signs obvious distress recognized. Custom made Sage GSH 3113lb centerpin / steelhead float fishing rod
Up for sale is my custom made Sage GSH 3113lb rod. Custom tied for a centerpin reel. I purchased this rod from an angler in British Columbia, and when I received it I found it is a little too much rod for the waters I fish in Ontario. This is considered to be the best float rod there is for steelhead and salmon fishing. It has a beautiful action– just enough power to handle the biggest fish you can throw at it, yet enough flex and sensitivity to fish light leaders for those finicky steelhead. It took me over 3 months to find someone willing to sell this rod, and as any steelheader will know they are very hard to come by. These blanks are no longer made, and the newer green CP blanks put out by Sage are not the same. This is the original brown Graphite III blank– the newer ones are built based on the 3113MB– which is heavier. Makes an excellent ... moresalmon rod, and can be used for steelhead as well. Sage GFL 490 LLB 3 piece. 4 weight light line Graphite III custom fly rod. Rod was built by an experienced professional fly rod builder using a genuine factory 1st blank with all hardware matching factory built. Includes factory sock and a non OEM green cordura case. Beautifully constructed and finished. There are a few exceptions from factory specifications: the stripping guide was upgraded, the wrappings have a bronze prime thread with green tipping, and the grip was slightly sanded to a custom fit. Side by side I think the custom is finished better than the factory. The 490LL. Along with the 389LL, are legendary fantastic technical spring creek rods. But they still excel for any fishing that calls for a long, light line rod. I am selling a beautiful Sage Graphite III 790 4RPL# 7 line 9'0 3 1/4 oz 4pc Vintage fly rod. In excellent shape! This rod was well taken care of all life and is beautiful in every way. The Rod is in excellent shape, no damage I can find except at the reel seat area on the handle a little of the cork is missing as can be seen in the pictures. It has fantastic action and is extremely light, the pics speak for themselves as far as condition. Comes with original sock and tube, the tube itself has some pitting and paint wear, and some dryed duct tape reminence is apparent otherwise it is in great shape, the sock is absolutely perfect. This is a hard to find GEM and a steal at my asking price!
