Sage Aluminum Rod Case Holder Tube for Model GFL 990-3 RPL and others NICE
I will be selling off my vintage and non vintage fishing collection over the next week or so. This auction is for a nice rod tube from Sage. It is about 2" in diameter and is 38-1/2" long. It is made of aluminum with aluminum end caps with foam insert. It is painted aluminum in a dark cream color. The painted surface shows a few marks but no dents or dings. It is in excellent condition. The end cap as pictured say Model GFL 990-3 RPLX Length 9'0" This will work for that rod and many other brands as well. You will not be disappointed. This is a used Sage GFL 5100 RPL(5wt 10' While this rod was included in many a fishing trip. It wasn't used more than a dozen times. The rod is in great shape with only the normal amount of wear as seen in the photos. The rod tube is scratched, as almost all used rod tubes are. This is a phenomenal chironomid or czech nymph rod. I glanced over this rod and only noticed only a few light surface scratches. This is one of Sage's finest fast action rods. Even though it is several generations old(Graphite III) many still prefer it to the newer ones. It has its own cult following. Predecessor to the XP. It is in the classic 5wt. 9ft. 4piece. Classic brown blank with gold wrappings. Its beautiful. This rod is special because of its condition. You would be hard pressed to find one in better condition than this one. I would rate it 9 out of 10. Cork is extremely clean and no nicks or missing pieces. Ferrules show almost no use of being put together, nickel silver is bright and no dings, cocobolo wood insert is excellent, beautiful color and beautiful grain. Up for auction is a custom Sage fly rod 9 ft 2 piece 7 wt RPL. This is a descent rod and reel comb for the price that I am starting the auction. This rod has a few surface scratches as well as a few other scratches as shown in the pictures. The rod does not come with a tube or rod sack. The rod will be shipped in a pvc tube and will be packaged right to prevent any damage from shipping. The rod will come with two reels as well. The first reel is a Cabelas prestige fly reel(with a few minor handling marks) that has only been used twice and is loaded with either a 7wt or 8wt line which loads this rod nicely. Only real flaw is a tiny chip in the end of male ferrule which has never inhibited function/performance. Other than that, this rod looks nearly new, I have only fished it 3-4 times. 2) Sage Light Line Graphite III 7'11, 4 weight, 2 piece, used but in very good condition(pics 5-7) Original factory tube and sock. This rod has been fished about 8-10 times. No, it does not come with the tube and sock that would match the specs written on the rod.they sent it back in the old tube that matched the Light Line II rod that was sent in for repair. But they are typical light surface scratches/scuffs that are purely aesthetic and do not affect the rod's performance. The handle shows use but is only darker than a new one- no pieces/chunks are missing. The"thumb spot" of the cork creaks a little when applying a good amount of thumb pressure. This is a custom built rod from the Sage RPL+ blank- the tip guide may have been replaced at one point. It is silver and the other guides are gold. No rod tube included- will be shipped securely. This is a factory Sage RPL 7100 Fly Rod in excellent condition. This 10’0” 7 weight rod is the quintessential steelhead rod and the RPL is still a trusted series among fly fishing guides and enthusiasts alike. Dec Hogan states in his book that the RPL 7100 is still his favorite single hand line for steelhead. The specs on this rod: Length: 10’0” Line: 7 weight, Pieces: 2 piece, Weight: 3 5/8 oz. This particular rod is in excellent condition. The cork shows signs of use but is still in very good condition. The tip section was recently replaced by Sage and the lower section retains its original luster– the two sections look very good together.
