The blue metal tube has a bead chain attached to the screw on lid with a rubber gasket. The numbers on the two sections match. The cork grip and rod seat are mint as is the rest of the rod. I have for sale my Winston BIIX with a Lamson Velocity1.5 reel and Scientific Anglers Sharkskin line. The Rod, R.L. Winston Boron IIX 9' 4 weight 4 piece fly rod. This rod is in great shape. The only blemish on the entire rod. Is a chip in the cork handle, which can be seen in the photographs. I purchased this rod new and it is a dry fly dream. Plenty of power with that signature Winston feel. The Reel, Water-works Lamson Velocity Hard Alox size 1.5 A great reel in very good shape. There are a few scratches that can be seen in the photos. This reel has Lamson's famous sealed conical drag system and Hard Alox finish. I bought this reel the same day that I bought the rod. It really balances the rod out well. This Scientific Anglers G3 is as nice a vintage Graphite rod as you will find. These were very well made rods with the finest fittings and workmanship. The specifications on the decal butt end near the grip is a follows. Scientific Anglers 3M, System G9 100% Graphite, 284cm(9'4" Line weight 9. I am grading it as"near mint" since it is in flawless never fished condition but there is some darkening on the cork from handling and test casting it on the lawn. This is the first generation Graphite rod that SA/ 3M introduced in the late 70s to early 80s. This two piece rod features stainless steel spigot type feurrels. Two ceramic stripping guides, stainless steel snake guides and tip top, beautiful burgandy wraps and burgundy anodized aluminum up locking reel seat and premium cork grip. This rod has a smooth sweet stroke not ... moretoo stiff. It will make a superb Salmon. Steelhead and striper rod for big powerful fish and would work real well for freshwater bass casting big bass bugs. It comes with original rod sock and Custom Made cork fighting Butt.

The reel appears to have seen little to no use so it functions flawlessly and is very smooth. Cosmetically. The reel is in excellent condition with only very minor scratching on the back side. Despite the cosmetic wear, the reel presents very well with it;s bright vivid graphics. This is a great reel that is suitable for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle collection. Reel is smooth winding with nice soft click. Has line but not sure what size, one little ding shown in pic#9 some paint wear on drag. Rod is well used also with little cork chip shown in pic#7 and scuffs on eye windings. All eyes are there as well as tip, rust on first eye. Drag works on reel, looks like it is set up for left handed,do not know if it can be reversed.
