The vintage System ... more6 Fly Reel& two Spare Spools being auctioned have been exceptionally well maintained by its previous owner, and in superb condition given their age. Still structurally and mechanically sound throughout. There are indeed some minor surface scratches, light scrapes, and polished rubs present about reel and spools' rimmed edges and face, but overall, the set's original finish appears to have held up incredibly well. A quick testing of the reel's circular plastic-spring and check drag confirms modest increasing tension throughout its adjustable range. With no stutter, stick, or hesitation noted, and a thorough inspection of the reel's interior confirms all internal parts still perfectly intact and fully functional, with no excessive residue build up, tarnishing, or oxidization of component pieces found. The line guard and reel foot both still appear straight and tight with no signs of warp or excessive wear. And the handles and spool-release mechanisms were confirmed still functioning perfectly without issue across the entire set as well. Naturally, it will not fit any Marquis Disc, Silent Check, or Multiplier reel. The spool looks like it has received moderate use. And remains in good shape. Each tube features two sewn in pockets ideal for a two or three piece fly rod. There is a cushioned separator between the two tubes to keep the reels from banging into each other. He was the only previous owner, and almost all of the reels and spools are in good working condition with moderate to very slight wear for their age. Here's a near vintage Orvis Hardy made Battenkill Mark III cast magnesium alloy fly reel with backing. NEW fly line, original case and instructions. I had Orvis go through it about a year ago. Nothing wrong but they tuned and greased it. Adjustable single pawl click drag which can be changed to right or left retrieve. The reel weighs only 3 oz. and is 3.25" in diameter. Grey in color. The reel is loaded with a brand new Scientific Anglers Mastery Textured Trout WF5F fly line, willow in color. Never fished or cast. I put this reel and line together for a rod thinking I would put it on a older 5 wt. rod, but I have too many rods already. This reel would look great on an older Orvis Superfine, Sage SP, Winston IM6 rod or similar rod. This reel/line could sell locally. So I reserve the right to end this auction early.
