All of the ferrules have over a 3/32" gap, except the tip ferrule gap is right around 1/16". This rod's serial number is "4846" and it is labeled on all sections. This rod comes with the tube and sock. The tube has a dent in it, and I believe the cap is a replacement. All-in-all, a nice rod to fish with or collect. This is a very early(1960s) San Francisco Winston fiberglass fly rod and the very lightest model they made at this time. Rod is 7' 6" long. 2-Piece, 3oz and was designed to cast a WF-5. It also casts a DT-4 just as nicely. Rod is in mint condition. Brown blank ruby-red thread wraps with translucent white tipping; Winston's old"Trophy" logo; ring-style hook keeper; traditional half-wells grip; champagne. Down-locking Cal-Air aluminum reel seat; small tungsten or nickel silver stripping guide. Rod is in mint condition. There is no yellowing of the varnish whatsoever(see photos) Ferrules are in excellent condition with 3/16" gap remaining. Original red Winston rod bag and tube. No photos of the tube as it is being shipped to me from my second home; they will be posted later. Rod is in such good condition that when ... moreI purchased it in the late 1990s it still had its length and physical weight(3oz) written on the grip from the factory. This is both a blessing and a curse: at the time of production Winston was a bamboo rod builder; fiberglass rods were not a priority; consequently Winston did not bother with writing model numbers. Serial numbers, weights or line recommendations on the blanks. Hence length and physical weight were written on the cork! This fact may turn off buyers accustomed to collecting Winston glass rods from the 1970s(which had length and line weight designations written on the blank) or later rods that actually had serial numbers; serious collectors of these rods know perfectly well that these rods left the Winston shop in precisely the condition this one is in. This great modern fiberglass small stream rod was finished from a factory blank by a good friend who is a guide and a rod-builder. The blank is a 2-piece Scott fibertouch F703 from the 1990's. It is amber-brown. Unsanded, and in perfect condition. It was finished with snake guides and a half-wells grip with a cap and ring reel seat. Wraps are a subtle old gold color with very little varnish build-up. There is no writing on the rod. Many Blue Ridge brook trout have had an attachment to this rod! I'm attached to it as well. But these are difficult times and the herd must be thinned. Scott glass is precise. Though forgiving of a clunky caster like myself. It roll casts beautifully. Modern glass rods are light and perfectly suited for casts in the 20-60 foot range. Scarce and truly admired early Brown San Francisco Scott Brown Fiberglass Fly Rod. 7 foot, in the ever wanted 5 piece format, with factory bag and tube(very good condition- yet without cap) Script reads" Scott Powr-Ply, 7 0' 2 1/2 oz. WF-4F, 570-3058. In excellent condition(with any exception noted) all script at 100% Each section is labeled with the serial# 3058 except for the tip section. All sections are equal in length, reel seat components are spotless, and the cork shows slight ridging. The tip section seems to be a replacement as the coloration is a little brighter, the serial# is not present(yet the Scott dot for alignment is present) and the wraps match very well with the other wraps. Additionally, there is a very, very slight downward bend of the tip section at that ferrule when assembled. Not perfectly straight when the ... moretip is fitted to the next section. All this leads to a replacement tip that was fitted later. This Scott S3 853/4 rod casts great. Is in excellent cosmetic shape, and is a great looking rod. It is a four piece, 8 1/2 foot 3 Weight rod. The blank does not have any chips or dings on it and the grip is clean and smooth. The end cap has a few minor scratches. The aluminum rod case has hardly been used as I used another rod case when I traveled with the rod. The Scott s3 is a fast action rocket of a rod with spigot ferruls(all of which are mint) and can launch anything from a#20 midge to a#2 streamer with ease. The used Scott S3S 909/4 series 9'0" 4pc 9wt ... moreFly Rod featured here naturally shows some minor signs of cosmetic wear or tear in the high traffic areas that one would expect in an offering that's been occasionally fished. As the photos show. The cork grip does display some faint staining from previous handling, but remains overall void of any noteworthy chips, gouges or excessive missing fill. Though not quite as bright or as shiny as it perhaps was new. The sturdy up-locking black-anodized aluminum reel seat still looks fantastic and functions perfectly too. A close inspection of the rod's richly finished gloss-blue blank from tip to butt reveals but a handful of minor usage marks in the typical high-wear areas. But no other signs of catastrophic abuse like deep scratches, scores, or penetrating nicks were found that would in any way hint the rod's original strength or integrity as compromised. A close review of the rod's guides shows only a faint trace nominal orange-colored oxidization developing at the base of a few feet. Scott K79 8'0"DT4-3oz. This is an original'kit rod' from 1973-74 era The blank was ferrulled. Grip and reel seat, and inscription done by Harry Wilson. Yellow. San Francisco era glass. The F79(K79) is one of Harry's best tapers. The rod was wrapped by an'unknown' Whoever finished out the rod did an excellent job. better finish work than I have seen from Scott rods of this era. The rod has no issues. The ferrule fit is correct. No repairs. Some have regarded this model as'the greatest. Its true to its line rating. And casts well in close and far. Rarely seen as a kit rod or original. don't miss out.
