Very well-cared for by its previous owner and seemingly rarely fished. This extraordinarily powerful two-handed fly rod does show a few nominal signs of light cosmetic wear and tear in the expected high traffic areas that one would expect in a rod that's been only occasionally employed. As evidenced in the photos. The lower and upper cork grips display only the faint hint of staining from previous handling, and remain overall quite free from any major chips, gouges, or excessive missing fill. The heavy-barrel, down-locking nickle-silver and wood reel seat still looks fabulous like it once did new, and naturally still functions perfectly too. A close inspection of the rod's signature glossy green blank from tip to butt reveals the usual small scuffs and surface scrapes in the expected areas. But no signs of catastrophic abuse like deep scratches, scores, or penetrating nicks were found that would in any way hint the rod's original strength or integrity as compromised. Up for auction is a Sage VXP spey rod. 12' 5 weight that when looked at, apprears in"like new" condition. I used it twice casting in the back yard so I can't say the rod is new. It has never seen water. There is 1 micro surface blemish on a male ferrule on handle section(you have to look closely, camera won't show it) from putting together and the cork is slightly soiled, otherwise the rod is in great condition.
