The pole is in very good condition but there are a few areas that have darks spots that the laquer has lifted from age. It still has all the original eyes and green string plus the original hallmark and cork bottom and those parts are in excellent condition. It doesn't look like it was used very much. Very Nice Vintage Bamboo Fly/ Casting Rod
The pictures show a very nice Vintage Bamboo Fly/Cast Rod. The rod is in very good condition. It is 2 piece and is 64 1/2" in length. The cork handle is very nice as is the reel seat. There aren't any splits in the bamboo. All the wraps are tight. All the guides are there and look to be original. This rod has a plug on the end of the handle that can be removed so that the bamboo rod can be reinserted into the handle to become a fly rod. The only markings on the rod to indicate manufacturer is an"EAGLE" logo on the lower portion of the rod by the reel seat. Please look at the pictures to see how nice the rod is. RARE VINTAGE PHILLIPSON FIBERGLASS FLY ROD
Johnson Reels Inc. owned phillipson from 1961 to 1964 there were 3 lines of phillipson crafted. Johnson profile rods. This is the profile 800 8f86 fly rod that is 8 1/2 foot long the 800 and 600 rods were made of scotchply material. All rods had nickle silver ferrules, finnished with gold tip top and stripper guides. And the tip top guide is the small size for precision casting as seen in the picture. The remaining guides are double spiral snakes. Therod blank and ferrels are painted golden brown. The main guide wraps are slightley darker brown with elaborate trim spirals that are darker brown still. The rod grip is a simple cigar tapering to all the way to the rod blank to allow a thread wrap from the hook keeper up onto the grip. The reel seat is a dark redish brown anodized down locking seat with gold cap and slip ring. In most opinions ... morethese are the most aestetically pleasing glass rods made. Also has custom rod sock. This rod is in mint condition and is hard to tell if it has ever been used. But it has and I have this rod comes from my own exclusive collection of about 9 other phillipson rods when I got this rod I had never seen another of any sort come up or seen any since making this rod very rare and hard to part with but as I have so many in my collection I am thinning the herd to raise money to start a foundation for children in foster care and others as well so they might experiance the joy of fly fishing as me and my own son so you might look for several others comming up as well as heddons and others. The only imperfection that I see is that one of the guides broke through the silk wrap and was glued in place. This is an interesting early 9' fly fishing rod. It has the name"Sunline Flymaster" hand painted on the 6 sided bamboo shaft. It is in excellent shape with the only thing missing is the eye off of the tip of one of the ends. This is a classic 3 piece rod with an extra tip section. The bamboo is straight. And all wraps are tight. The part missing the tip is not broke off. The metal tip just slipped offof the bamboo rod. The butt section measures 37" the middle section measures 36" and the tips measure 36-1/2" The three pieces weigh 6 ounces. This rod came out of an Estate in Helena Montana. Thanks for looking. With tight ferrule and the guides and wraps all look excellent- the 7" cork grip shows some wear and the reel seat has some scratches/wear. Included is a Fenwick metal storage tube with screw-top- the tube is marked with model number FF 90 and so I am unsure if it actually goes with this Rod. This is a v intage unmarked bamboo fly rod 8 1/2 feet. The Full Wells cork is 6 inches and in great shape. The butt sect ion is missing the striping guide and hook hanger. The mid section is missing two snake guides. The two tips are in nearly perfect condition- VERY straight. The down lock reel seat is very well made. Nice and tight- works well. The ferrules are in good condition. This rod will obviously need a little attention. But is in overall good condition. Vintage Horrocks Ibbotson Bamboo Fly Rod and Meisselbach#260 Brass Fly Reel This is an exceptional. Antique, bamboo fly fishing fod for the 1920-30"s with a Meisselbach vintage brass reel. I obtained the Horrocks-Ibbotson rod and the Meisselbach reel from an antique dealer in Seattle. WA many years ago and have had it displayed with my vintage fishing collection. Thus, it has not been used. The cork handle on the rod is in excellent condition and guides are in good shape. The rod is approximately 9.3 ft in length and has an extra rod tip. It was made in Utica NY. The entire set is stored in a vintage canvas case that contains an alumumn tube that portects the rod sections. The Meisselbach reel is described below: It is in excellent condition and has the following information stamped on the reel case: Meisselbach Pat. Jan. 14 96. This sale is for one 40" long blue vintage unmarked cardboard rod tube with screw cap. The tube is intact and strong. Has minor peeling of surface colored paper, no holes or bends. There are 2 tiny really insignificant dents near ends and cap has minor corrosion. Inside are four rod tips from various rods. Unknown makers. May be useful for parts. 2 Pole Tips are missing their tip guides and may have broken guides but also have good guides. 2 Pole Tips are intact with good eyes with guide sleeves of white material. May be glass. Yellow tip is 40" long and green tip is 30" long. Green one also has a black metal connector cap. 5 sleeved guides and 2 sleeved tips are on thes good rod tips.
