All connecting joints(2) in excellent condition and work perfectly. Tip top and all of the line guides and material used to keep them in place are excellent. There is no reason to think the pole wouldn't fish as well now as it was able to when it was brand new. Shalespeare's composite poles from this era were mostly like this- straight fiber rods with spiral markings. They were less flexible than today's composite poles and not as light. They still work good if they are set up with the right rigging and reel. Shipping: $13.95 for parcel post tube with poles wrapped carefully and protected thoroughly. Plus insured by seller. This is an older HERTERS 7' Fiberglass Fly Rod. Mdl. RB6YIS6 from an estate in Green Valley, AZ. Very nice condition all-around with no serious shortcomings. Just some very light scuffs in the finish here and there around the lower 8" of the fiberglass. All of the windings are excellent. Vintage 1910 FE Thomas, Bangor, Me. Dirigo Bamboo Trout Fly Rod, Two tips, 9 1/2
Search This is a vintage Thomas fly rod. Made in bangor maine. This rod has two tips, each with a different style end on it, Im guessing its a wet fly and dry fly tip but not sure. All four pieces are straight and true with no bends. One tip is about 5/16 of an inch shorter than the other but one of the metal tips is 3/16 of an inch longer than the other, being a different style, so that accounts for part of the difference in length-the tips appear to have never been broken or repaired. Butt section is 38 8/16 long, center section is 38 8/16 long, one tip is 38 7/16 and the other is 38 2/16 long. The rod appears to be complete and is marked Dirigo FE Thomas Bangor Me on the reel seat. Reel seat appears to be nickle plated and has what I think is called a rolled soldered slide bar. I did some research but correct me if Im mistaken about names/details ... moreof this item. I was told and believe that the finish on the rod is the original varnish. The butt section and center section need to have the line guides rewrapped as they have been attached in a very sloppy manner, as shown in the pics. The two tips look to be in great shape however with all the guides securely attached. The rod measures 114 1/2 inches( 9 1/2 feet) when assembled but I did not really"jam" the sections together for fear of not being able to get them apart again. I believe the cork grip is referred to as sheet wrapped. Two tips come in a round bamboo storage case with a screw on cap. Bamboo case fits into the original canvas rod sack along with the butt and center sections. Canvas case is marked with the name LAWRENCE, I assume the original owner but dont know. This is a great rod but does need some repair work. I am not an expert on fly rods and got most of the info off the internet so please ask questions if you have any. I hate to list with a reserve price but I think I kind of need to in this case. Please ask questions-if you have any-before you bid. Most of my items are used and show some wear. Vintage 4 piece Phillipson PowrPakt bamboo fly rod with canvas cloth sock and original aluminum tube.Rod is in mint condition lokks to have hardly been used, 6 5/8" cork handle, reel seat, guides,wraps,metal ferrules and original lettering are in immaculate condition,there is a slight dent on the cap of the aluminum tube but stills screws on and off just fine,the rod has two top sections,the cloth sock(may be a replacement sock)is in great condition,the first three sections measure 34 1/2" each and the other top section is 32"rod sections are straight and there's no damage to the cane, no cracks,splits or delamitations.This rod is very rare and collectable. Vintage Phillipson Master-Kast MK80 fly-matic fly rod
Vintage 2 piece Phillipson Master-Kast MK80 Fly-Matic line size HDH fly rod. Just above the lettering the thread is loose and some is missing, also some thread missing just below the ferrule on the first section, has a 6 1/2" cork handle(a little bit of the top section of the cork is worn and chipped) that has a lever built into the top part and has a metal type hook keeper on the bottom part and when you push up on the lever it releases a small amount of the lower hook holder and when you push it down it tightens up the hook keeper to keep the fly or hook in place(works really well) aluminum reel seat with top screw down piece and just below that a ring to put the top half of the fly reel foot piece on,good,solid metal ferrules, top section is about 1 1/2" shorter than the bottom section(may have been broken and another tip put ... moreon unless that's original) also on the top section it looks as though the first,third and fourth guides have been re-wrapped as there is a different type of thread on those guides, generally speaking rod is in very good shape other than the forementioned. Can be made into an approx. 8 foot fly rod or a 5'4" spinning/casting rod by simply reversing the handle and inserting different sections. Very unique piece of fishing history. This 5 piece rod includes cork handle rod. Extension rod and 3 tips to provided different lengths and weight of line. The labeling is partially missing, but the NIPPON is visible on the handle piece. Some of the coating on the rod is worn away and missing. The rod tips are good and clean with no pitting. Accessories include a reel which is pitted and dirty and has old line; spinning lures; a fly labeled Black Gnat- S. Allcock and Co. Redditch, Eng. Vintage 5 piece bamboo fly rod spin rod combo Pat aug 22, 1905 (Montague)
Search This is a vintage combo fly and spin rod. I was told that this is made by Montague but there is no name on it. Only the pat date of aug 22, 1905. I think this is called a reversing handle rod but not sure. The pieces appear to be the proper lengths but all the guides are missing. The finish on the metal parts need to be cleaned and polished so they will fit together as they do not fit together as they now are. When the pieces are laid out on the floor the fly rod sections appear to be about 100 inches long and the spinning or casting rod appear to be 74 inches. I am guessing about how they all fit together but I really dont know. This rod needs a lot of work but the bamboo looks to be in good shape so maybe could be used for parts if you need them. This rod was bought in Japan in 1955. This is a one family owned piece. It is a Type C-A Made by Harisho Uedo Co. Ltd. Tokyo. Japan. Five pieces, main rod and two extra tips. 8 feet. The box needs repair at the hinges, they are there, but coming loose. The main rod is missing the connector coupling at the tip and one tip is missing a guide and has one guide loose(in box) This has been stored in a garage for 40 years and I believe would be a wonderful collector piece with some tlc, which I do not know how to do.I have priced this at what I think is a fair price for the condition, using other Ebay rods as a guide. This rod is for AFTMA 8 or 9 weight line. Serial number I 62419. MADE IN THE USA. Very good condition. A few scratches on the blank and on the seat. All the wraps are solid. Good Day. This auction is for a nice vintage bamboo fly fishing rod. This rod has no marking except for a name"H.W. Clapp Ordway Colo. That's all it has for markings. I don't believe this was a Clapp& Trait rod maker so I'm a bit confused to it's origins. Either way it is a nice rod and could turn out to be something good. Oh yeah this rod comes with 4 pieces, the three main section and an extra tip section which is slightly larger than the other tip, also the sleeve and a tube and also all ferrules are nice and snug. HENRY PRITCHARD WAS MAKING AND DESIGNING THESE RODS IN THE LATE 1800'S.THIS ROD IS MARKED WITH THE JAN. 10TH. 1888 STAMP.THE ROD IS MISSING AN EYE IN THE MIDDLE SECTION.MANY OF THE WRAPS ARE MISSING AND THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF WEAR TO THE FINISH.THE ROD IS WOOD AND OFTEN TIMES PRITCHARD USED GREEN HEARTWOOD OR SNAKEWOOD.I AM NOT SURE WHAT TYPE OF WOOD WAS USED HERE.SOCK INCLUDED. PLEASE NOTE: A FELLOW E-BAYER SENT THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE TO ME ABOUT THIS ROD: The Pritchard patent was assigned to Abbey& Imbrie. Meaning A&I decided who got to use that band. Vintage Six Piece Bambo Spin-Fly Fishing Rod/Japan/ In display box/clean!
Very clean six piece bamboo fishing rod. Spin-fly combination rod, made in Tokyo Japan. Rod comes in its original two piece wooden box. Box measures 18.5 inches long. Rod handle has rubber stopper in opposite end depending on fly/spin fishing type at the time. Each section is aboutn 16 3/4 inches, so I assume this is a 7ft rod when the 5 pieces are together. Two tips one with small fly rod guides and one with larger spin guides. Looking at the rod I guess 4 pieces used when spin fishing. Very clean rod, black with red Aqua Rod label. All guides good and tight, some unwinding of the thread on the base section. Looks like it might have been used once or twice. Much of the original tackle that came in the top of box is still here. One part with a bobber and hand line is unopened. Four flies and two small cork or wood bobbers also present. Nice ... moredisplay piece, or this pack size rod could be used.
