In good condition with normal even wear from age and use, a few surface scratches(inside top Bowl) that can be buffed out and one tiny ding on the bottom side that is not a crease and is very tiny(hard to find and about a pencil tip size) other wise in very good condition. No monogram or engraved initial and clearly marked on the Base with Whiting logo and sterling. On a digital scale it is 44.6 ounces, 2 pounds 12.6 ounces. It is impressive with very sharp details of Scrolls and Shell designs. Measuring approx. 11 1/4 inches across the Top and 5 1/2 inches Tall, the base is approx. 6 1/2 inches in diameter. 6.75 inches diameter. Really large sterling coaster with radiating pattern in the glass base. The pattern is what is so unusual. Whiting made quite a few of these large coasters, but mostly very plain or with a tiny bead edge. This one rivals the artistry of the European makers and there were probably very few sold, as they would have been pretty pricey. If you are purchasing more than a single item. The calculator feature on ebay does its best and is occasionally accurate. The more you purchase, the farther off the mark the calculator can be. It's really pretty simple. If I click USPS as the best shipping choice for a single item, nearly always purchasing 6 will mean FedEx is the best choice. Up for auction is a pair of estate Art Deco sterling silver goblets. The goblets are in very good condition. No dents or repairs. Just need some polishing. The cups measure 5" high and 3" in diameter. They were made by Whiting silversmith of NY for the Grogan jewelers. The Grogan Co. was the leading retail jeweler of Pittsburgh, Pa circa 1890-1930. They sold high end silver and jewelry. The goblets are fully hallmarked. There is also the mark indicating the year of 1923. The goblets have beautiful engraved initials. I just got this set of drink coasters from a coastal Georgia estate and my find could be your treasure. Each is marked with the signature Whiting W in a circle with six radiating spears between the number 14 and STERLING as shown in the last picture. From my research of the Whiting Company. I found that they were in business from 1878 to 1940 so these coasters probably date close to 1940. Each is tarnished and could use a good polishing. Condition is very good but because they were used and because of the age of the pieces, each has tiny dents scattered about, mostly to the edges and raised areas. The rare design is of leaves which completely cover the entire piece. The glass inserts are in excellent condition. This auction is for a dinner or place knife with a sterling handle in the Madame Jumel pattern. By Whiting. This pattern was introduced in 1924. Whiting was purchased by Gorham in the 1920's. The knife is in very good used condition. There is no monogram on the knife. The knife is marked on the side of the handle with the Whiting makers mark, and'Sterling Pat 1908' The knife measures about 8 3/4 inches long, and weighs 70 grams. The coasters are unmarked but came from an estate that had similar age coasters marked by Webster or Frank M. Whiting. These coasters have a pretty center star design in the heavy glass and the perimeter is covered with what appears to be a thin sheet of silver leaf. The silver leaf on one coaster has a smooth rim. And the silver leaf on the other coaster has cuts on the edge and is coming away from the glass a little. The silver leaf does have a pretty design etched into it. Sold"as is" vintage condition. This is a set of four sterling luncheon forks in the Art Nouveau"Violet" pattern. Which was patented by Whiting in 1905. Each fork measures 6-3/4" long and the total weight is 4.70 troy ounces. They are in very good condition. The handles are still quite crisp; there is wear on the tines, which may be buffed off. The fronts of the handles are engraved with an Old English"E" The reverses are marked with Whiting's old trademarks and"Sterling" Any black marks are merely reflections. They are a sweet set! 20 very beautiful pieces of antique Whiting Sterling Silver(later acquired by Gorham) in the pattern"King Edward" The patent date was April 23. 1901, which is engraved on the back. This set includes 6- 9 1/2" Dinner Knives, 6- 8" Dinner Forks, 2- 7" Soup Spoons(sometimes called Gumbo Soups) and 6- 5 7/8" Teaspoons. All have the same initial monogram, which may be an L or may be an S(it's difficult to know with old monograms) The pieces are all in good condition, the knife edges still quite sharp enough to cut meat. I've had them for many years but only lightly used them. NOTE: I tried to add"Best Offer" as a choice for this but seem not to be able to do that. I am interested in any reasonable offer, though.
