This lovely Art Nouveau pattern was first produced in 1902. Both spoons are engraved with a K in Gothic script. These spoons are old production. The spoons are marked on the reverse with a makers mark for Whiting. Sterling, and Pat. 1902. These soup spoons were probably made within 10 years of the original patent date. The condition is excellent. The pattern is very sharp and crisp. There are no dents. No splits, no breaks, and no repairs. The bouillon soup spoons are 5 inches long. After the company was acquired by Gorham in 1926, the company moved to Providence, Rhode Island. Some of the most beautiful and opulent sterling flatware patterns ever produced were made by the silversmiths at Whiting and are very collectible. The Imperial Queen pattern was patented in 1893 and is quite elaborate with many design elements including shells. Fans and scrolls. The design is found on both the front and back of this spoon. The fan design extends into the bowl on the back of the spoon and at the bottom of the handle on the front. We have included many photographs of the beautiful design and ask that you use the"zoom" feature on the photographs to examine the spoon in detail. This size and shape are referred to as an oval soup spoon or a dessert spoon. It measures 7" long with the handle itself measuring about 4-1/2" long. The bowl measures 1-3/8" wide by 2-1/2" long. This spoon weighs a hefty 39 grams. The back of the spoon has the Whiting hallmark of a lion passant with its paw on an oval with the letter"W" inside. It is also marked"Sterling" and"Pat. 1893"

What makes this purse special is the Sigma Phi Epsilon crest or logo which has been added to the front side of the purse. With a strong magnifying glass. I could clearly see the crown, star, sword, shield, cross and ancient lamp symbols associated with this national fraternity.
