Beautiful Winston BIIt 8' 6" 4 weight fly rod. Lightly used. Cork slightly discolored from minimal use. I've checked it over carefully and see no scratches on the rod. Cork very solid and in great shape. Many"Winstonites" on the Winston Forum have dubbed this rod the"Staff of Moses" and claim it's the single best rod in the entire Winston line-up. 2 1/2 oz, very light in hand. Soft action reminiscent of the old IM6 taper, but with the backbone of boron. Very smooth with that unmistakable"magic wand" Winston feel. Some of the dots you see in the pictures are dust due to the macro lens. Come with original sock and tube. Tube has minor nicks and one very small dent which was hard to photograph. Very NIce Winston IBIS 376-4 Fly Rod. Near Perfect 4 Piece 7'6" #3 wt. Line
This is an excellent Winston rod in very good condition. The only sign of use is limited to a few fine surface scratches(see photo) in the butt section. Individually hand numbered with its own serial code to ensure its lifetime warranty. Even the cork handle looks almost new. It has been fished maybe 2-3 times for a few hours total. This series is relatively quick and can be used with either a Standard or a GPX-type(fast) taper. It is relatively fast but casts very well with a slower stroke too. It's deadly for short ranges but has the power to throw from 20 to plenty(about 60 plus feet) with ease and accuracy. It is inherently handsome with a cocobolo handle and cigar-shaped handle. The burgundy brown finish is rich and the rod is solid. You will not be disappointed. I am selling this at a discount. This is a very early(1960s) San Francisco Winston fiberglass fly rod and the very lightest model they made at this time. Rod is 7' 6" long. 2-Piece, 3oz and was designed to cast a WF-5. It also casts a DT-4 just as nicely. Rod is in mint condition. Brown blank ruby-red thread wraps with translucent white tipping; Winston's old"Trophy" logo; ring-style hook keeper; traditional half-wells grip; champagne. Down-locking Cal-Air aluminum reel seat; small tungsten or nickel silver stripping guide. Rod is in mint condition. There is no yellowing of the varnish whatsoever(see photos) Ferrules are in excellent condition with 3/16" gap remaining. Original red Winston rod bag and tube. Rod is in such good condition that when ... moreI purchased it in the late 1990s it still had its length and physical weight(3oz) written on the grip from the factory. This is both a blessing and a curse: at the time of production Winston was a bamboo rod builder; fiberglass rods were not a priority; consequently Winston did not bother with writing model numbers. Serial numbers, weights or line recommendations on the blanks. Hence length and physical weight were written on the cork! This fact may turn off buyers accustomed to collecting Winston glass rods from the 1970s(which had length and line weight designations written on the blank) or later rods that actually had serial numbers; serious collectors of these rods know perfectly well that these rods left the Winston shop in precisely the condition this one is in. All reasonable offers are welcome. I have seen these rods fetch as much as $1250 in the past 24 months but so few come on the market that I cannot gauge its actual value. Buyer pays shipping. RL Winston 8'6'' 4 1/2 oz SF Build Bamboo (Cane) Fly Rod 2/2
I am selling my Merrick era Winston rod serial number is 9471. This rod was completed 10/27/67 in the San Francisco shop. Rod is in good condition with the butt section having a couple of repair wraps. I have had two individuals. One rod maker and one appraiser look at the wraps and they were unable to determine why the wraps were placed. The tips also have a minor sets. The tip section has a groove that has formed in the tip top. I have included photos to show this. The rod builder I had mentioned above said this groove although noticeable, was not something to worry about. Now, the second tip section is for another Winston rod. The second rod tip has serial number 1684-1 which is a rod built by Glenn Brackett in Montana that was completed in 1977. This tip is just a little lighter than the 9471 which leads me to believe it was made for ... morea 4 1/4 oz rod and casts wonderfully. This tip section has no damage. And the tube, it has traveled the world. The rod sock has some dirt stains, no tears. I am selling the rod because I will most likely hardly ever fish it. It is fun to cast and punches a DT6 into the wind with authority. I have lighter cane rods that I fish on a regular basis. This is a very well made rod with many many years of life left in it. This is a Winston 9 foot. 10 weight, 4 1/8oz fly rod. It has the rubber fighting knob. In excellent condition. All eyelets and great cosmetic condition. The cork was wrapped in nylon string. I just unwrapped it for this listing. The cork is probably due for some love, but its totally usable. Serials match on both pieces. This is a custom rod. It is a beautiful piece that doesn't get the attention she deserves. I've spent the last week trying to get the color right in the photos. Either the whole photo would be too dark or the the exposure would be correct but rod will look like its black, the actual color is a deep forest green. Comes with the nylon case. It has seen better days. fabric itself is not worn, just been sitting in the garage for a few years. It is in good condition. Cork is in good shape, with light signs of light use(not all soiled) Cigar shaped handle. Elder wood seat with nickel uplocking seat. Comes with original metal tube that has a few light scratches(normal wear/tear) Rod comes in original Winston cloth sock. All 4 pieces have matching serial numbers. No significant damage. There are three very small scratches in the finish on the tip top piece, on the 3rd guide down. It was difficult to get a good pic of them. They are small, not ... morevery deep, but noticeable if you look closely. Other than that, there is nothing other than a few light, normal use, light scratches, and there are not all that many. Overall, it's a really nice rod. This will be packed in a PVC tube and box/cardboard for shipping. It was difficult to get good pics. The rod is a deep green color. This is a factory built rod.
