This is a R. L. Winston XTR#7 9' 3-pc fly rod. This rod has a modification on the cork grip which is pictured. The filed flat spot is for the thumb to rest when powering the cast. It is a great reminder not to turn your wrist and lose the power this rod has to offer. This is a powerful rod for casting large streamers for any species and makes a great rod for saltwater backcountry or flats fishing. This rod does carry the name of a person. Winston IM6 686-2 Fly Rod - NICE!!!!!
Winston IM6 686-2 fly rod. 8 1/2 foot 2 piece rod. Downlocking reel seat. Blank in great shape. Shiny with only a few minor surface scuffs. Guides all in tact and in great shape. Wood spacer has a couple marks, reel seat hardware shows some wear, but functionally fine. Cork grip in very good shape. A few scuffs/scratches on tube. Classic IM6 Winston, green blank with almost hint of blue to it. Great rod, lots of feel, perfect for throwing nymphs and larger flies on medium to small sized streams or any place where a long cast isn't necessary. Great rod for chucking stoneflies up along the bank and under the trees. Hate to part with this one, but I've got too many 6 weights as it is. Happy bidding!

I hate to get rid of this fly rod. But I am moving to the coast and just won't need it anymore. This is a fantastic rod, man I really love it. I hope you can love this rod as much as I have. I have a Lamson Guru real that is the only reel I have ever used with this rod and if you are interested in the reel I can think about selling it. A very nice rod from the San Francisco/Merrick era with all the appointments found on a Winston rod from that period in time. Originally made with one tip(as most S.F. era Winston’s were) and later fitted with a second tip by Glen Brackett(wraps on this tip are not an exact match with the difference being hard to spot when rod is assembled) The Brackett tip has a quicker dry fly(DF) action but will still bend to a formidable fish protecting the tippet. A very comfortable and fun rod to fish with! All cork grip and reel seat spacer with the usual S.F. Winston hardware. Grip, and downlocking slide band reel seat fitted with Bakelite end cap and winding check-Flap ring hook keeper. Winston DL4 5wt 4pc Fly Rod - Excellent Barely Used Condition
Barely Used Winston DL4 5wt 4pc 2 2/8 oz flyrod#107575. Purchased new in about 2004. This rod casts fabulously and all guides, windings, grip and rod seat are like new. I would estimate this rod has less than 2 hrs on the water, mostly practice casting on the pier at our lake house in Northern Wisconsin. I'd give it a 9.9/10 on condition. I'm sad to let this one go and I know the Winston DL4s have somewhat of a cult following.I trust it will go to another home where it gets fished as it should. Unfortunately, memories sometimes trump technical prowess, as still I prefer my Fenwick 5wt HMG that Andre Puyans sold me after I tested it with him in front of his shop in Walnut Creek in the 1980's. This classic bamboo rod was custom made by R.L. Winston in Twin Bridges. Montana utilizing bamboo hollowing technology that was patented in 1946(Patent#2537488) This 8 foot long and 4 oz. two piece rod utilizes 6 weight line and comes with a three slotted carrying pouch and aluminum tube for easy, efficient transport. The design of the rod provides effortless casts, tight loops and impeccable accuracy. There are two reasons for hollow building that have been argued back and forth by rod makers and anglers. The first is the reduced mass of the rod’s effect on the cast. The second is the more pleasant feel of a rod that is light in hand. Winston 8-1/2 Foot 7wt 2pc Fly Rod Used This is a rod from my collection. The rod has seen a lot of action but has a lot of life left in it. The rod includes a rod sock and original aluminum tube. Look closely at the photos. What you see is what you get. This is a rather medium action rod. It casts great. I have used it a lot the last year fighting Steel head and the rod performed beautifully. The graphite looks great in the famous Winston green. You can see by the dirty cork that the rod has seen some use, the cork has a single gouge in it, look at the photos. The small loop that holds your fly near the cork handle is missing, look at the photos(hard to see) I don't use those things so I never missed it. There are no obvious repairs on this rod as far as I can see. It doesn't look like the rod has seen a lot of use. This is not a ... morenew rod. But it isn't $800 either! I like the rod just fine. The only reason I am selling it is that I just ordered a new 5pc model so I can travel easier with it. This is a 8' 6" 2-piece rod for a 7wt fly line. S/N 1139

For sale is a used Winston Biix 9ft 8wt 4pc. fly fishing rod. This rod does have the owners name signed on the blank. All of the serial numbers match from each section to the rod tube. It features a fighting butt handle with a graphite reel seat. This rod is in good shape. It has been fished and spent most of it's life out of the case. There rod sock has been cleaned but had shown some signs of soil. Some of the finish is worn and lost it's sheen in places. This rod is a fisherman's rod. This is a great rod for throwing streamers for trout and bass. It can easily handle 300gr. sinking lines for this capacity. Up for auction is my Winston IM6 9 foot 4wt. 2 piece with original rod sock, tube. My rod collection has simply gotten too large, I have more rods then I could ever possibly fish, so it is time to let go of some of them. This rod is in excellent plus condition, has been stored in my rod room, free of humidity, dust. This is a factory built, all original IM6 rod, with the serial numbers written on both sections of the rod. The spigot ferrules are in excellent condition, fit together with a 1/4 inch gap, just like they are supposed to. There are no scratches, dings, or any structural flaws whatsoever. No repairs have been made to this rod, none are needed. The tube has a few scratches from normal use, but is still in excellent condition. Winston LT 9 foot 7 weight 5 pc Fly Rod
The Winston LT 9 foot 7 weight 5 pc is a medium action. Smooth casting 7 weight that will excel at streamer fishing for big trout, bass and even saltwater species. This rod is used but in very good condition. I have one of these rods too. And I have caught 100's and 100's of bonefish with mine over the years and really enjoy the smooth more full flexing action. The reel seat is a light wood insert with nickel silver hardware. Factory built with case and sack.
