Winston IM6 Graphite 7' 2 weight 2 pc. fly rod in excellent condition. A beautiful rod that is truly a joy to cast and fish in small wild trout streams. These rods were the predecessors to the WT line and were some of the best rods made by Winston. The rod is excellent condition with no damage to blank or reel seat. The rod has been fished and has minimal wear. I have started to fish with bamboo rods and find that I use my graphite rods less and less so it is time to thin the herd. The rod will be shipped with the original cloth bag and Winston rod tube as shown in pics.

But was finished in Montana after the company was purchased by Tom Morgan. These rods do not have serial numbers. The handwriting on the rod(size, length, etc. was likely done by Tom Morgan himself. We were in contact with Winston directly for these answers to this particular rod. The rod itself is in decent condition for its age. The handle has no pieces of cork missing. Etc. The handle half of the rod has a fair amount of light scratches/scuffs, nothing that affects the rod- purely aesthetic. R L Winston Boron IIT B2T fly rod 7'6" 3 weight 3wt 4 piece I am the original owner of this rod. I sent the warranty card in and have fished it over 100 times. This rod is in decent/good condition. I bought this rod at a discount from a Winston dealer in 2011. When I recieved the rod there were multiple scuffs. Scratches around the area between the stripping guide and the next closest snake guide. Some of the scratches are only in the green coating, but some go through into the graphite. I hand polished the blank with a mild cleaner wax and it looked alot better, as it does now. If not for this detail I would rate the condition higher. My starting price reflects this) I have done my best to show these scratches in the pics. You have to look close to see them, as the only show up in the closeups. I have fished this rod at least 100 ... moretimes and it's caught literally hundreds of fish and I've never had a problem with the scratches. I've caught plenty of bass with it with small poppers and 8-13lb tippet too. I also removed the original cork grip and reel seat. The original cork was dirty and had alot of filler in it. The seat was the ugliest Winston seat I've ever seen. This rod must have had a hard life on the rack of the fly shop. I probably would not have bought it if I knew what it looked like. I made the cork grip out of"flor" 1/4" rings. And the slide band seat is from Golden Witch. The hardware I am told was from a run of prototype seats that I've yet to see them produce for regular sale, pretty unique. The wood insert is Zebra and the slide band seat weighs a full half ounce less than the original Winston seat. The seat fits a Hardy Lightweight perfectly. The Flyweight balances it best, but a Featherweight looks alot better on it. The rod has not been fished much the past year so it is time to let her go. This rod belonged to a friend who recently passed away and I am selling it for his wife. It is a custom Winston imp 8' 6wt rod. It was built by a local Ketchum rod builder. Apparently for a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Auction. It shows little sign of wear- a few very light scratches on the rod, the grip and seat in good shape. This rod is light tipped and casts very smoothly. It is a superb, all-round trout rod that according to some writers is one of four graphite rods that changed the fly-fishing world. Orvis Clearwater Classic Fly Rod - 8'6" 3wt 2pc + Winston Tube - Gently Used
Gently Used Orvis Clearwater Classic 8 Foot 6 Inch(8'6" 3 weight, 2 piece, Mid-Flex 6.5 fly rod + Winston aluminum rod tube. I purchased this rod in the summer of 2004 from Mad River Outfitters in Columbus, OH. At that time, I also purchased the Winston rod tube because I felt that the black plastic Orvis tube did not provide sufficient protection, plus it looks better than the original tube. This rod has been gently used and well cared for. The only real obvious signs of wear are some darkening of the cork grip(shown in photos) Which is unavoidable. This rod has always been cleaned& dried after use. And has always been stored in the Winston aluminum tube. As can be seen from the photos, it is in excellent cosmetic condition, and aside from the dark grip, looks new. There are no scratches/pits/dings in the reel seat trim or wood ... morespacer, and no scuff/scratches on the blank. All of the guides are perfect. This rod has never been returned to Orvis for service or repair. The Winston aluminum tube is in excellent condition, with no dents, but some of the paint near the end of the tube has been marred/chipped from storage- still looks and works good. WINSTON 9ft for 4wt 2-pc FLY ROD -- RARE!
This is a Winston 2-piece 9 ft for 4 wt. I purchased the rod new at the Winston factory in Montana over 30 years ago. It is a fantastic 4wt rod. With incredible delicateness and plenty of strength into the wind. There are a few slight scratches and scuffs on the rod. And the three guides on the butt section have some very slight movement to them when I push on them. The wrapping on the first guide of the butt section is worn at one edge(see photo 5) and the wrapping of the second guide has some bleaching or other effect(see photo 6) The guides and ferrules of the tip section look good.
