Winston DL4 5 weight fly rod, Factory Error w/letter of Authenticity!
What we have is a one-of-a-kind factory error Winston DL4. An ultra rare and collectible Winston to begin with. The DL4s were only produced for 1 year(2002-2003) and just 2500 were produced. This rod. However, is even more special. Winston mislabeled this rod as a"DL5" which is what is written on the rod itself. This was a factory mistake as there was never a model called the DL5. The tube however correctly states that this is a DL4. A letter of authenticity from Winston is included. Factory mistakes like this are unheard of and this rod is truly one of a kind. All serial numbers are matching and in the correct handwriting. Condition is used with a few minor handling marks and some slight scratching. However this rod is still gorgeous and shines beautifully. I do not know the entire history of this rod but I am the second owner ... moreand I was told it was purchased at North Fork Angler in 2003. I planned on keeping this rod until retirement as the value will only skyrocket due to the rarity of the DL4 line and the fact that factory mistakes never leave the Winston factory. But I must sell. This is a lightly-used Winston VSL 690-4(6wt. 9ft, 4pc) fly rod. I originally purchased a Winston IBIS and used it for several years, but when I broke the tip, Winston replaced it with a brand new rod(great customer service) This is a very smooth rod that is light in your hands and yet is also very flexible in application. With it I have stuck Shad on the Potomac, chucked poppers to Smallies on the Shenandoah, and lately hurled huge flies to Largemouths on a local lake. Having fished Steelhead Alley in Ohio for several years, I was planning on using this rod on my next trip there. The only thing I don't like about this rod is that it is not designed for use in Saltwater, and that is where I need the most'supplies' the euphemism I use when talking about my next fly rod purchase with my wife- supplies has the nice ring of'need' ... moreover mere'want' So, if you need freshwater rod that can do it all at a great price, consider this one! Beautiful early Winston graphite rod. This rod is labeled with the San Francisco markings on both the rod and tube. The grip is very fine in diameter. Incorporating a unique cork and ring reel seat. The rod casts a five weight line smoothly and with efficiency, although I have only lawn cast the rod. The condition is very good, showing a very slight dulling of the rod's sheen due to its age. I'm not sure this rod has ever been fished, although I cannot say for sure. There is some slight discoloration of the cork which I've shown in the photos. this appears to be a natural imperfection in the cork, but I cannot say for sure. As the photos show. The cork grip displays some staining from previous handling, but remains overall void of any noteworthy chips, gouges or excessive missing fill. Though not quite as handsome perhaps as it once was new. The sturdy up-locking black-anodized aluminum and woven-graphite reel seat still looks good and functions perfectly too. Winston Bamboo Fly Rod 7 Feet 2 piece San Fransisco Vintage Cane Flyrod
Here is a very rare Winston prototype Experimental Fly Rod. Glenn Bracket tells me this rod was built in 1949 by Doug Merrick and Red Lasket. Two of the most esteemed builders ever, in their San Fransisco shop. The rod includes the original dark brown aluminum brass-capped tube in excellent shape and the correctly labeled Winston red rod sock. This rod is for a 6 weight line and that's what I've used when fishing it. It is a great rod if you fish for big fish, with big flies in small water. I have used this during the salmon fly hatch on the West Fork of the Bitterroot, Palisades creek in Idaho, Silver Creek and various other small waters where you need the power of a 6 line to throw a giant nymph, streamer or dry fly. Winston DL4 5 weight fly rod, Factory Error w/letter of Authenticity! 586-4 8'6"
Relisted. none paying buyer. What we have is a one-of-a-kind factory error Winston DL4. An ultra rare and collectible Winston to begin with. The DL4s were only produced for 1 year(2002-2003) and just 2500 were produced. This rod. However, is even more special. Winston mislabeled this rod as a"DL5" which is what is written on the rod itself. This was a factory mistake as there was never a model called the DL5. The tube however correctly states that this is a DL4. A letter of authenticity from Winston is included. Factory mistakes like this are unheard of and this rod is truly one of a kind. All serial numbers are matching and in the correct handwriting. Condition is used with a few minor handling marks and some slight scratching. However this rod is still gorgeous and shines beautifully. I do not know the entire history of this rod ... morebut I am the second owner and I was told it was purchased at North Fork Angler in 2003. I planned on keeping this rod until retirement as the value will only skyrocket due to the rarity of the DL4 line and the fact that factory mistakes never leave the Winston factory. But I must sell. WINSTON BIIx 1090 Fly Rod 9' 10 Wt Custom *BEAUTIFUL*
I am selling a bunch of custom rods from a guy that does about 20-30 per year. He does it for his therapy and then purges a bunch at a time. He does fish some of them. But there are so many, that no one man can put that many hours on that many rods. He learned to wrap rods from the local fly shop owner and rod builder, so he knows all of the tricks of the trade and has improved on some. He specializes in larger, saltwater rods, so they are built better than any factory rod and uses top end components. Most of the rods have at least two, if not three stripper guides. He seals the cork grips to protect from body oils, dirt and fish slime, which is why most of the cork is slightly off color. This BIIx looks barely used and is absolutely gorgeous. Most do not have socks or tubes unless pictured. Shipping is $9.50 to the lower 48.

Beautiful R.L. Winston B3X BIIIX 9' 5wt 4pc Fly Rod In immaculate condition
I bought this rod about six months ago and have taken it out one time. Very briefly. I took it to a local river to fish the Mothers Day Caddis hatch but the water was high so there was very little use. I was out maybe two hours. Cork shows a little soiling as you can see in the photos but nothing that would be noticeable unless told about it. I see rods on fly shop racks with much darker cork. Reel seat is without blemish and nickel silver hardware is bright and shiny without scratches. The blank has no scratches at all. I waxed the ferrules before putting them together so there is no scraping there either. Bag has no tears or damage. Rod tube has some normal shelf scuffs though very little and mostly what it came to me with. Rod has sat in the gear closet since that day. I cannot for the life of me figure out what I did with the warranty ... morecard. If I can find it, I will send it along. This model has an downlock nickle silver seat with a Zebrawood insert. Rod blank is clean. A couple very minor cosmetic surface scratches. All connections have a good fit with no splits or cracks on the female ferrules. Cork shows expected soiling from use but is sound with no soft spots. All sections are correct length. All sections have matching serial#s. The only condition issue is the first snake guide is a little tweaked as seen in the last pic. It is not broken and the guide foot is still secure. there is a blemish on the wood insert that will be covered and not visible when a reel is mounted on the rod. Winston BIIX 690-4 Fly Fishing Rod Unquestionable do-it-all sweetheart of the BIIX series Please use your mouse's cursor to enlarge all photos of this absolutely wonderful fly fishing rod. This out-of-production masterpiece is perhaps the single best-selling fly rod Winston has ever made. Some call it a 5wt. As it will throw both 5wt and 6wt line equally well. Google the B2X/BIIX series and read the forums- see which B2X models get the most praise.this rod is at the top of the list. Honestly, it feels like a 9ft 4wt in hand and performs like a 6wt when needed. It is currently my most frequently rod fished. And so. The only ONLY reason I am selling this rod is I recently had an opportunity to buy this same rod with an extra tip(with all serial numbers matching) otherwise, this rod particular rod would never leave my quiver- NEVER. Honestly, ... moreit is almost always the rod I reach for if I am only taking one. I think most will agree that the B3X made improvements over the B2X in most models. But in the 690 it ain't so, at least for the way I like to fish. The B2X 690 is really a 5.5wt that can also fish like a 4wt. The B3X, on the other hand, is a true 6wt and leans toward a 7wt more than a 5, if you know what I mean- it is both stouter and faster. Personally, I like the fact that my 6wt can fish 5wt line so effortlessly and is lighter in physical weight than most 9ft rods I own. Another factoid that might surprise you- while the 690 B3X is supposed to be lighter(2 3/4 vs 2 7/8ths ounce for the B2X 690. As stated on the blanks) nothing could be further than the truth. The B2X is 3.0 ounces on the nose and the B3X is in actuality 3.3. This weight is especially significant, as well, because the B3X was beefed up in the top two sections and a MUCH more tip-heavy rod than its B2X counterpart. While some still prefer the B3X, not I. I have held literally hundreds of different rods in my hands and while I would find it hard to put any single rod at the top, as I would never have to pick just one rod to keep, this

Winston Boron B2- MX 9 foot 5 weight 4 Piece Up for sale is a Winston 9 foot 5 weight B2-MX flyrod. Rod has been well used but still in very good condition. Cork is soiled but still in very good shape with no chunks missing. Ferules do have scratches(as with all Winstons) but does not affect the rods performance at all. Rod does have the original owners name inscribed on the rod but I am sure it could be removed and fixed for little cost from a local wood worker. Rod was designed at this size as the fastest rod Winston ever produced but still fishes with the"Winston Feel" This rod was designed to do it all. Dry's or streamers you will love it! Winston IM6 8 1/2' 4 weight 2 piece fly rod in Excellent Condition
This is my personal Winston 8 1/2' 4 weight fly rod. And I have been the only owner. This is a classic Winston IM6 fly for a wide variety of fishing applications. Just Google it, and you will see it listed as one of the all-time GREAT fly rods. Condition of this rod is as follows: Rod has been used maybe 4 times total; cork is 100% complete, no breaks or pieces missing although has very modest soiling consistent with times used. Silver and wood in reel seat are in very good shape. Blank and remainder of rod are in great shape/could not be better. Rod comes with original Winston bag and rod tube.
