Scott Fly Rod G882 8' 8" 2Wt
For sale is a custom made Scott G882 fly rod. It's 8' 8" long and two piece. This is one of the original Scott G series rods and considered one of their best. The G's used and un-sanded blank and a spigot ferule system. This particular rod is built with a down locking Struble D2 real seat with a teak wood spacer and blued nickel silver hardware. There is some tarnish on the nickel hardware that will clean up if desired. I personally like the way it looks so I haven't cleaned it. Other components include a flor plus cork handle consistent with the factory versions design. Absolutely no filler in the cork. Stripping guides are SIC. All high end components. Hand-made stripping guide, polished aluminum screw down locking band reel seat with walnut insert, robust cigar cork grip(heavily soiled) Butt section is 43.25 inches in length while tip section as normally supplied ... morein the factory kit is 1/2 inch shorter at 42.75 inches. Ferrules are tight and"pop" when separated, both rod sections are straight. This is a terrific rod that is very fish-able and will give somebody quite a few years of pleasure. It deserves to be fished rather than sit on a shelf someplace. Wraps are starting to show their age and probably should either be covered with a light coat of epoxy or re-wrapped within the next year or so. Includes generic rod sleeve, no tube. This rod is Rare. Not old or vintage. But one of the finest examples of Sage technology in their history of premier fly rods. This is a 2 wt. that does not hamper your ability to reach out or your ability to land larger fish. I fished this rod on the Beaverkill River in NY for several years and found it to be a perfect match for that water. I have landed trout up to 16- 17 inches with this piece and learned not to hesitate to grab it and go. A great tool without second thought. All rod sections are equal length at 42.5" Each section has some set. The cork grip is in nice shape.the large winding check has some dings. The butt section has what seems to be random node spacing.the mid and both tips have 3x3 node spacing. No indicator of model anywhere on rod. This rod has been scraped and cleaned by previous owner. No cracks splits or delaminations visible anywhere. It is a beautiful piece that needs a good home. I can wrap and finish this for you the way you want for an extra fee. Sold as is.
