Vintage Brooklure Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod with Oren-O-Matic Balanced Reel N0. 1140 Model B. This rig has been used and has issues. The biggest being the missing top section. The guide eyelet on the base section is off, but is taped to the metal tip(I did this years ago so it wouldn't get lost) The middle section has a bent guide, a guide that is loose on one end and another that was rewrapped at some point. Don't think it matches the other guides, so is probably a replacement. The fourth guide on this section appears to be okay. There are no cracks that I can see, but there are signs of wear on this setup. The Logo label says Brooklure, and the words Sun Valley Steel Center are hand written( above the logo. The name Harold C. Fisher is written in black near the logo also. It appears that may have been the owners name, and could possibly ... morebe the same name on the reel, but the writing is worn. The Reel is an Oren-O-Matic Balanced Reel No. 1140 Model B. Again, well used, still with the line wound on the reel. We have had this rod and reel for ages sitting around around with another bamboo rod I put up for auction a few days ago. Husband got the rods as a kid from a neighbor. Up for auction with low opening bid and NO RESERVE! A South Bend OREN-O-MATIC No.1140 Model D Fly Rod Reel. I picked this Fly Fishing Reel up at an Estate Sale along with a bunch more(many varieties) and fishing poles that I will be listing in the near future. I am not a fisherman so I will do my best to describe. I do know they are vintage as the family said the grandpa(pasted away 5 years ago in his late 80's) had not been fishing for years. This Fly Reel is in very lightly used condition from what I can see. Minimal wear. The line retract lever works great and pulls the line in when depressed. A great old vintage Made in U.S.A. fishing reel! Includes the original box(no paper work) which also has some very light storage wear. NO RESERVE! Lot of 2. Vintage South Bend Oren-O-Matic balanced fly fishing reels, probably from the early 1950's. Number 1140. Model D•For longer. Heavier fly rods•Burgundy red cases; with paint wear. A few dents and abrasions. Both reels were used, but taken care of. Made in the USA•Line included- corded on one and a thinner monofilament type on the other. This South Bend automatic is a great addition to any anglers arsenal- a vintage reel that works well and can be used or displayed. The spring mechanism is strong and works well. The rims have some wear. But it looks as though it was honest use, not abuse. Overall, it is in good to good-plus condition.
