1946 Kalamazoo Miracle Silent Automatic Fly Fishing Reel Loaded w Line
For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this 1946 vintage fly fishing reel by Kalamazoo. It is a medium size(5/6/7) reel. This is the Miracle Silent Automatic Reel. It was made in the USA. It is old brown fly line on it. I dont know if it is silk or one of the very early synthetics. This one has been used but it is in good condition for one of these. There is some loss of finish on the high profile edges as is common with these. Automatic fly reels wind a spring when line is stripped. For bid is this used Vintage Miracle Silent Automatic Fly Reel Kalamazoo Tackle Co. 1697 D USA fishin. I do not know much about reels but will try and describe. This is my fathers. This reel is marked on the top. Miracle Silent Automatic. on the bottom side. Kalamazoo Tackle Company. No. 1697. Model D. on the bottom of the reel foot it shows. Made In U.S.A. Pantented. This reel does turn good/smooth when you wind it up and push down on the lever that sticks out as you see in all the pictures. As you can see in the pictures it has paint wear and there is a small dent on the top as you see in picture 2 above the handle. This reel is in good condition as you can see(except for the paint wear) and does seem to work good and would be a good reel for your fishing seasons. Buyer pays the shipping.U.S.P.S. c. 1947 KALAMAZOO TACKLE CO. MIRACLE Silent Automatic" No. 1697"C" Fly Reel in Original Box. The reel you are bidding for was manufactured by the Kalamazoo Tackle Company of Kalamazoo. MI. Kalamazoo Tackle was a subsidiary of the Shakespeare Tackle Company. This reel was a very popular wind-up type automatic reel for its day and an excellent example of the newer designed automatic action reels that replaced the more robust wind-up reels such as the Yawman and Erbe reels of the late 1800s. This reel was probably made in the late 1940s. The spring action of the reel is excellent and could be fished today. It is in overall good cosmetic condition with minor loss of enamel to its surfaces. Mechanically the spring is strong and the wind-up mechanism works as intended. The reel carries the following engraved identifying marks; MIRACLE ... moreSILENT AUTOMATIC" on its head plate. KALAMAZOO TACKLE COMPANY" and, NO. 1697" and'MODEL C" on its tail plate.
