It is Black and the paint is very nice and shiny. Just some very minor tiny scratches, might not be even visible in photos. Has 2 small knobs for winding that appear to be Bakelite. This auction is for a really nice little vintage A.F. Meisselbach Featherlight fly fishing reel. The patent date on the side says Jan.14:96. Dating it 1896. Cosmetically the reel has a lot of patina and shows wear but mechanically it is all in total working condition, turns smoothly and the clicker brake works very well. The spool can be removed by taking out the screw in the center. It is pretty straight for its age and all original. You can read all of the original writing. It says Featherlight on the handle side and No. 270 on the tip of the foot. You can see the condition of the item in the photos. The reel is a part of my personal fishing tackle collection. Up for your bidding consideration is this vintage MARTIN AUT' FLY FISHING REEL in good original condition. This vintage reel is a RARE first edition of fly fishing reels made by the MARTIN FISH REEL Co. when they were in Mohawk. New York. It is marked as their No. 1 and Pat. Appl'd for are clearly stamped onto the aluminum case(see pics. It appears to be in good working condition though I am not an angler and know little about these fly fishing reels. It does have line in it and it does feed and lock as it should. This piece was acquired from the original owners family and was told that he was an avid fly fisherman and always kept his fishing equipment in top working condition. That said. It is a used reel and shows use with some dings and dents on the flat cover side. It could use a cleaning I am sure but again does seem to function ... moreas it should. It does"click" wind up and the brass knurled release seems to work fine. A very early rendition fly fishing reel by MARTIN that would surely make a grand additon to any fishermans collection! For auction a pre 1900 skeleton fly reel. there are 3 patent dates inscribed on the real. Feb 23-86. Nov 23-86, and feb 5-89. Also on the side opposite the handle inscribed is jan 14 and nothing else. on the top of the reel inscribed is the word"expert" On the foot of the reel is#22. The real is made of brass. the action is smooth as silk however there is some damage. the wooden handle has partially rotten off. there are scrapes but the majority of the paint is intact I would say 99 percent. I'm not an expert on reels, but I believe the paint to be original. on one side of the foot there are two holes. I don't know if one of those was drilled post factory. I am going to take several photographs and let you be the judge. high end item? common junk? Item Description This auction is for a vintage Pflueger SAL-TROUT flywheel. No. 1558, made in USA, pat. 1,899,914. There is the letter B stamped opposite the manufacturer stamp. The wire line is rusty with some tangles and usable. It has green spots of patina and it was stored with double knob side up so it is not smooth. **RARE** YAWMAN & ERBE AUTOMATIC FLY REEL - PAT 1888 and 1891
This is a very rare. Very nice Automatic fly reel made by YAWMAN& ERBE Mfg. Co in Rochester NY. This reel was patented Feb, 28 1888, June 16, 1891. There is no model number, but it has a serial number stamped on the inside of the spool of 5104. I tried to load the reel, it winds, but only showed a little motion once. Probably needs a good cleaning. I am not going to take this apart and maybe ruin it. There are a lot more qualified people out there then me on this kind of stuff. The reel and all its visible parts are in excellent condition, and appears to be complete. Have fun bidding on this rarity. I was told by another Ebayer email this morning, that a key is needed to load this reel. That is the missing part.He also said that this was probably a Model B, and made around 1905*

Very nice little Trout Reel size 3 1/2. Raised pillar, nickel-silver and Bakelite. Very strong click and reel spins very freely with no noise. Knurled handle nut and end cap. The Julius Vom HOFE logo and patent date of Oct. 8, 1889 are stamped on the back. The nickel finish is mirror-bright and there are no scratches on the Bakelite. The foot is unaltered. The reel has a very good appearance and presents fairly well with it's rustic look. The reel shows some wear to the nickel plating exposing the brass finish in several areas. There have also been some notches filed into the tips of the foot to fit a particular rod. The reel also has it's share of light abrasions. Despite the cosmetic concerns. Never had one) cage spool arbor, sculpted pillars, metal spool latch cover, and butterscotch knob. This is a patent pending marked reel before the patent for ornamental design was issued to Enterprise Manufacturing in Sept. 1930. Gunmetal finish shows moderate wear and has a nice patina- please review all the photos. The original riveted foot has been neatly filed about 1/8" short on one side. Cranks smoothly and the fixed click works well. You can use it either right or left handed since there is no ring line guide. A classic hard to find reel to add to your collection!
