I recently picked up a lot of vintage fishing reels and will be listing them all on ebay this week. I don't know a ton about reels. So I'm just going to list them auction style with a low starting bid and see what they go for. No reserve. The Perrine Free Stripping Automatic Reel was guaranteed to“Double your fly fishing Pleasure” It was manufactured by the PERRING MFG. CO. Minneapolis. Minnesota. The Paperwork enclosed in the original box goes through the No Brake Manipulation and all the special features of the reel. The brochure goes on to say that the reel has a Black Alumilite finish that is non light reflecting. The paperwork also describes the parts of the reel. Cautions and what is important in maintenance. The No. 50 reel at that time sold for $9.25. Weight. Capacity and other information is listed. The paperwork at the top says circular No. 46A March1946 The paperwork has been folded but is in pretty good condition. There is some aging and rubbing where the reel was sitting on it. The original box for the reel is in rough condition on the top. There is some splitting ... moreon the top but the box is intact. The base of he box is in pretty good condition. See photos. The reel is in a brown heavy cloth drawstring bag. I don’t know if this is original to the reel or not but looks old and definitely has been in this bag a long time. Two actual Michigan Resident Fishing Licenses(1953& 1954) issued to a Mrs. Florence Holmes of Grand Rapids, MI were found and have been included in this auction.The black Perrine automatic fly reel is filled with braided line and appears mechanically sound. I put it through it's paces the best I could and it seemed to function fine.
