Frame is solid brass. I think that spool is polished nickel plate. Both rubberoid handles are beautiful, as shown. 60" is stamped into bottom of feet. Pflueger, Bulldog trade mark, and PROGRESS, are stamped on top of the feet. NO RESERVE above opening. The line is very old and stiff. Probably has been there since Hitler was a corporal. Overall. Here is a pair of nice vintage raised pillar fly reels. I believe they are both 60-yard reels. The chrome one is in pretty nice condition. The foot is marked 60 and it is also marked made in USA. The clicker on this one is in working order but it is quiet compared to the clicker on the black reel. The black reel shows ore signs of wear and could stand to be cleaned. In Karl White's three book reference there are pictures of Winchester reels with this distinctive diamond design on the spool. Could this be a Winchester trade reel? There are no markings of any kind on this reel. Cosmetically this reel is good. Missing about half of its nickel plating and showing some surface rust. Swaged construction. Mechanically it is very good with a strong on/off click button on the tail plate. The winding knob is black bakelite? A nice mystery reel. Identify it for me. This is the second(and last) of this pattern in my possession.

Introduced about 1920. This lovely old Shakespeare Kazoo fly reel has the classic skeleton look with raised pillars. The reel is mostly brass with black over-paint. Some of the paint is gone with time and usage. The click/drag is still strong and it still has old backing line. Still in fishable shape. Wood box for display only. Antique split bamboo fly rod sport king model 76 w/ raised pillar skeleton reel
3 piece 9' sport king model 76 split bamboo fly rod w/ raised pillar skeleton fly reel. Each piece of the rod is approx 37" The middle piece is missing an eye. Its an easy fix for the right person. You can see in last pic as well as others the rest seems to be solid. The raised pillar reel works very good and the clicker is strong the only marking I could find was made in USA on the bottom of the reel seat. I'm pretty sure raised pillar reels were made between 1880-1920 this one is prob closer to the 20's correct me if i'm wrong. The two go very good together and would make a nice conversation piece or you would look pretty cool out on the water. Make sure you use the pics for condition along with what I said. Unknown Raised Pillar Skeleton Fly Reel, Winchester? Weinberg?
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Unknown Skeleton Fly Reel Well. This skeleton fly reel has me stumped. The only marking is an underlined 60 yard on the bottom of the foot. Characteristic of Winchester and later Horrocks Ibbotson manufacture. However, the spool cutouts and the click button position are not like any Winchester fly reels I have seen, and look like the S. Weinberg reel from the Netherlands( shown in Richard Lodge's fine book about Skeleton Fly Reels. The click spring is riveted on like the Weinberg reel with two holes from the rivets in the back of the frame. Would appreciate any information from you knowledgeable collectors.
