For sale at a fixed price is this neat vintage Auto Fly Fishing Reel. It is a dark red 1930s vintage South Bend Oren-O-Matic No. 1140 Model D. This one has been used but not significantly. It is near new in the original box with the original instructions and loaded with vintage line. I am unsure what the line is.other than a vintage waxy brown line. As I said. The reel is in as minty condition as you can hope to find one of these. The high profile areas are nearly always missing some or most of the finish as it just wears off. This one has very little in the way of rub marks or wear. It loads and rewinds perfectly. The box has some shelf wear as you can see but it is complete with undamaged corners. This is a vintage South Bend Oren-O-Matic No. 1140 model B automatic fly reel. It is used and seems to be fully functional. I don't know too much about these reels. When you wind up the side plate. And then press down the release lever, the spool spins back quickly and smoothly. I assume that is how this reel is supposed to function. I offer for your consideration a vintage South Bend Oren-O-Matic No. 1140 model B balanced automatic Fly Fishing Reel. Condition; The Reel is used but not abused. Aesthetically. The Reel has a few minor blemishes and scratches but nothing major. The Reel works well and is in good condition. When you wind up the side plate, and then press down the release lever, the spool spins back quickly and smoothly. I would rate the over-all condition of this reel a 6.5- 7 out of 10. Please review the images carefully, as a part of this description, and asses the condition of the item for yourself prior to bidding. This is a"new old stock" item. Not to sure how old it is but it is in great. Never used condition. Still has the sticker on the side on how to close the latch. Beautiful clean condition for its age! Vintage South Bend Oren-o-Matic no. 1140 Model D Balanced Reel in fair condition. Measuring 3 inches in diameter. I do not know if this reel works, because it needs cleaning(see photos) and I did not spin it, and I can tell enough that it is not locked. The reel comes with an original vinyl South Bend Finalist zippered case in very good condition. It measures approx. 4 x 4 x 2 1/2 inches, and mechanics of zipper work well, and it is very clean inside. As with all of our items. What you see is exactly what you'll get. South Bend OREN-O-MATIC 1140 Automatic Fly Reel Balanced Reel No. 1140. Model D, Made in USA In good. Used condition with light scratches and wear to paint typical of a used reel. Please see detailed close-up pictures for exact condition. I am not a fly-reel expert and do not know the full function of this reel. But it appears to be in working order. After winding, the trigger releases the tension spring and reels in the line. If there are other functions that need to be checked, please ask questions and I will be glad to test them.

I picked this Fly Fishing Reel up at an Estate Sale along with a bunch more(many varieties) and fishing poles that I will be listing in the near future. I am not a fisherman so I will do my best to describe. I do know they are vintage as the family said the grandpa(pasted away 5 years ago in his late 80's) had not been fishing for years. This Fly Reel is in very lightly used condition from what I can see. Minimal wear. The line retract lever works great and pulls the line in when depressed.
