One little paint wear mark on the side(shown up close in a photo) and some light dust from storage. The reel is set up for right handed retrieve but can be either right or left. The reel is complete with the original box. Paperwork. The reel was used some but must have been well taken care of- VERY VERY VERY CLEAN The reel has a nice fly line with backing already installed so the reel is ready to use immediately with the addition of a new fly leader. Pflueger Medalist 1494 1/2 Fly Reel Made in Akron Model
Up for auction is a Pflueger 1494 1/2 Medalist fly reel. The reel is for lines 5 thru 7. The reel is a Made in Akron model with the plastic right hand wind only plastic drag plate. The letter B is stamped into the bottom of the reel foot. The reel is in very good condition and is ready to fish. It does have some paint loss. I did have to do a repair to this reel. The plunger and spring were stuck in their pocket and would not come out. I drilled thru the back of the pocket and pushed them out. The hole in the pocket was then filled with JB Weld and another spring and plunger were installed. The reel works as it's supposed to. Line and backing not included. Shipping to the lower 48 only by Priority mail.

After some research I still do not really know what exactly this is.I have seen paperwork like this but none with 3 ring binder holes and none that say PFLUEGER SPORTING GOODS DIVISION SALES OFFICE DRAWER P. COLUMBIA, S.C. This might be rare and unusual or I might not have looked hard enough. Some numbers on the back that look like a date. 5-23-79. Couple small tears in the fold(see pics) but other than that very nice readable condition.This possibly rare item would make a nice addition to the Plueger collection. This was my husband's. I know very little about his fly fishing equipment. But, I took this to a collector and he smiled. This is a Plueger Medalist, 1494 1/2 DA 1" wide, right or left hand wind, rectangular line guard, adjustable drag, dual click. On the bottom of the reel above the foot is printed or stamped" Pflueger 1494 1/2 DA Made in U.S.A. This reel was made in Fayetteville, Arkanasas. It was wrapped up in a cloth at the bottom of my husband"s tackle box. It is in original unrestored condition, everything works as it should and apparently these are quite desirable.
