Vintage Pflueger Sal-Trout # 1558 Reel With Vintage Metal Telescoping Pole
Vintage Pflueger Sal-Trout#1558 Reel on metal telescoping pole. The rod extends out to 84 1/2 inches from end to tip. The second eye is missing on the rod. In picture it is not extended. It has rope on the handle. The metal by the reel looks like brass. But I am not for sure the type of metal the rod is. I also saw no name on it. The reel is a Pflueger Sal-Trout Model#1558, Made in USA an also has pat# on it. Nice vintage item to use or display. Check out my store sasgas_ok

Vintage Antique Pflueger Sal-Trout No 1554 Fly Reel
First. My disclaimer. I know nothing about fly reels. I am an old salt water fisherman that started collecting bait casters and wood lures. I usually use fish bigger than they catch with these reels for bait. That said, I will try and relate info to you about this fly reel. And I am sorry if I have offended you, but the price I am going to ask should make you feel better about me. This is a rather large fly reel at 3.5" diameter. It appears to have an aluminum spool that is showing surface corrosion or etching. The frame of the reel also looks to be aluminum with a painted or anodized finish. It has some nicks and rubs, but looks good. The foot appears to be brass, as a little rub is showing brass under the anodized finish. The frame is stamped with the Bulldog Trademark and reads"PFLUEGER SAL-TROUT- MADE IN USA- NO 1554" The ... moreknob looks perfect. The reel turns freely, the clicker works well. There is some kind of line on it, maybe a braid or something. So there you have it. Buy this reel and go out and catch some bait! Just kidding.

The reel is 3 3/4" across the center and it is full marked on the no knob side. It makes a loud clicking sound if you turn the reel. Today we are offering a lot of 4 possibly vintage reels. Three of them are definitely made by Pflueger. There is one Pflueger Medalist reel which has'Made In USA' faintly stamped on the center boss. There is one Pflueger Progress reel which has'80' stamped on the foot and has the bulldog trademark symbol on it. There is one Pflueger Sal-Trout 1554 reel with has'Made In U.S.A. stamped on it. 40' is written on its foot in sharpie. Lastly there is one small reel which does not have any brand stamped on it. But does have'Made In USA' stamped on the foot underneath some sticker residue. This auction is for a vintage Pflueger Progress 1774 fly reel in good condition. It has been fished and has some paint rubs and tarnish. But will fish well: The click drag is loud and the spool spins true. This small reel would be ideal on a 2 or 3 weight fly rod. Also included is a vintage Pflueger 1554 Sal-Trout. This reel is fishable but not as nice as the 1774: The clicker is loud, but the spool has a slight warp so it ticks the frame in one spot. I’m sure this can be bent back but I haven’t tried to do so myself. If you collect Pflueger or just like to fish vintage tackle, this is an auction you need to consider. Vintage PFLUEGER 3 In. Spool "Sal-Trout" #1554 Single Action Fly Reel c. 1935
Scarce early model 1554. refurbished to be"good as new! What you are bidding on is a refurbished"good as new" vintage"skeleton style" Plueger SAL-TROUT 1554 fly reel. Scarce size 3 inch spool with raise 1.5 inch inside diameter. I believe it is definitely an early Model 1554 as it is stamped with the Bull Dog Logo with the picture of the bulldog between the words"trade" and"mark" see photo) and has a Bakelite handle. Everything has been steam cleaned and reduced to bare metal then painted. Reassembled and lubricated. I freshly painted the reel and spool with black epoxy. It has a solid sounding on-off click/pawl mechanism. Winds nicely Reversible. Machined brass screwed reel foot is a nice touch. I believe it takes up to a 5/6 or 7 line and 50 yards backing. For auction a pflueger sal-trout 1558 in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition. Originally produced in the 1930s. Similar in design to the heddon winona. Construction seems aluminum to my eye. Reel works smooth as silk and the clicker function is tight with loud bold sound. Silent mode produces no squeeks upon retrieve. Definitely lightly used. I didnt clean or oil, found as is. Foot has no visible wear, almost as if it was never put on a rod. I'm guessing this was used on flats for speckled trout, redfish, snook, tarpon and the like. 1 Vintage PFLEUGER SAL- TROUT 1554. Appears to be in working condition, snap rings and gear controls are freely moving, clicker is making its sound. Reel has wear and tear conducive to it’s age. RARE VINTAGE ALL BRASS PFLUEGER 1555 SAL TROUT FLY FISHING REEL
Rare 1555 Sal Trout all brass fly fishing reel. 1554's are very commom and made of alloys. The 1555 is the earlier brass model. Brass has some darker areas and probably could be polished out but the reel has a very nice patina to it now. 3 1/2" diameter, 1 1/8" wide spool. Functions are very smooth, turns freely with no rubbing or warp, very good clicker. A very nice reel for your collection. Check out my other vintage fly reels, I do combine shipping. Vintage Pflueger Bull Dog Sal-Trout No. 1554 Fly Fishing Reel
Up for auction is a vintage Pflueger Sal-Trout No.1554. Reel comes with the vintage wire line that you see. Reel works well with the clicker on. The spool seems to have a slight bend in it because if you have the clicker off(silent) then the spool rivets rub on the clicker mechanism( should be an easy fix) Reel has scratches and some paint loss. Reel#1 is a vintage Pflueger Sal-Trout No. 1554. It seems to be in good working condition. But has some small dings and dents( As seen in pictures) Reel#2 is also a Sal-Trout No.1554, but has been banged up some. It would make a good parts reel, or it could possibly be straightened.
