Some edge wear here and there and a tiny gouge out of the edge near the foot(see pics) Loaded with some double-taper(leader attached) of unknown weight and brand. Satisfaction guaranteed. Pflueger Medalist Fly Reel. In good shape. This has been well loved here in the NW corner of Montana, but it hasn't been used in a couple seasons and it's time for it to go. It does what it needs to do, turns, clicks, spool comes off and on. Has typical bare spots where paint has worn off, but no dents, bends etc. Shipping $12 lower 48. Pflueger Medalist No.1492 fly reel made in the USA#314038 Up for consideration is a vintage Pflueger 1492 fly reel made in the USA. This is an awesome reel that appears to have seen little to no use. The reel functions flawlessly with all operations checked. The reel also presents very well and has the sculpted posts. Upon careful inspection. The only flaw identified includesome very minor wear along the edges of the case. This is a great little reel that is suitable for fishing but is better suited for a vintage tackle collection. Pflueger No.1492 Medalist 1st Ed. Metal Latch Cover Pat.Pending Round Line Guard
The patent application for this reel was issued in 1928. Granted in 1930, so this should date this reel. Overall condition is very good with some light wear to the black finish, wear to the spool. This is a right hand wind reel with a permanent click. It has a circular Diamolite line guide, sculpured pillars, a metal latch cover and an amber Pyralin crank handle. The top of the frame on the head plat side reads"DIAMOLIE LINE GUARD" and"PATENT PENDING" The bottom of the frame reads"No.1492" An early example of a classic reel. QUESTIONS ANSWERED ON 03/13/14. This is a Pflueger Medalist fly reel#1492 with the original hang tag. The hang tag gives directions for increasing the weight of the reel to balance on any fly rod. To increase the weight. You would remove the spool hub and placee BB shot inside until you reached the desired weight. The reel spool does not appear to have ever had line on it. The reel measures 2 7/8" across the face. The spool width is 3/4" The reel foot has an"F: stamped into it. The reel face has one pillar rivet showing some corossion. The photos show the condition well. Very Good Overall condition! Here is a nice early Pflueger# 1492 Medalist fly reel made in Akron. Ohio. It has Diamolite line guard and sculptured pillars. It measures 2 3/8" in diameter and 13/16" between the pillars. The reel is in very good condition. With only some paint loss. Due to normal age and use. This would be a nice addition to any collection of American-made fly reels.

The reel seems to be in good working condition(fwd/ backward) and a good solid reel. The handle and middle medallion seem to be dried out, although still solid as well- please see photo's provided.
