Pflueger Progress 1774 Fly Fishing Reel Brass Working Clicker Nice Vintage The Listing is for a Brass Pflueger old school 1774 fly reel. This nice old reel looks good and works very well. The clicker works just as it should forward winding or back reeling. It also has the no clicker option with the switch and spins easily. The handle is smooth with a good shine. The spool measures 2 1/8" in diameter. The outer cage measures 2 7/8" in diameter. The brass has a good looking patina to the metal it has not been polished in about 6 years and is darkening nicely. Vintage Pflueger Progress No 1774 brass fly reel wood handle nice clean
For auction is a very nice mid 1900's Pflueger Progress No. 1774 solid brass frame with aluminum spool fly reel. This model has the slide option between click and free spin and functions properly. This reel is very clean and an absolute joy to use. The brass is very shiny. It is difficult to capture in photographs, and the aluminum is in nice shape with a shine. The sound of the clicking while fighting a trout is a special sound. While these pair perfectly with bamboo rods, I have enjoyed using it with 4/5 weight modern rods, It may be appropriate for up to 6 weight. This reel has a total weight of 136 grams or 4.75 oz. This little trout reel is the same size as the Pflueger 1492 1/2. It is a reel I've fished with from time to time. Is in near-mint condition, and will display nicely or balance well on the stream with a 4 or 5 weight rod. I cant remember the year for these reels but to be honest they are some of my favorite reels to use on my old bamboo rods. You can use this on a glass rod as well. I had this reel buffed out a few years ago it has been sitting with my other equipment untouched for about 2 years now. If you got a few mins and a buffing tool you will have a true shinner. The bakelite handle is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The drag is tight and free spool is nice and smooth. Just recently untombed from my daughters over stuffed gear bag there lie a 1774 on the side of her gear bag with 4 Weight Line for as long as I can recall. It wasn't until recently when I gave her an Abel Point.0(Zero) That she said. Well I might as well'Up Date' some of my gear now that I have this shiny New(NOS Steve Built Abel Zero) Reel. I've seen the 1774 a number of times on a Thomas& Thomas and another time on a Leonard Golden Shadow. I can't really comment, She Catches Fish- Lots of them. This little Reel is almost Bomb Proof, made of Solid Brass or Bronze, I think Phlueger missed the Art/Design Department before release. this is a nice reel if you wanted to remove all the from the reel otherwise this is a great little reel. everything works. No cracks in the handle it needs one ting fixed on the reel and its the free wheel/clicker thing. i pulled it apart and it looks to be a easy fix but i didn't want to mess with it. tis is a great little reel to use or to display. 7 day auction. EXCELLENT RARE VINTAGE SOLID BRASS PFLUEGER PROGRESS 1774 FLY REEL, WOOD KNOB
Excellent vintage 2 7/8" Pflueger 1774 Progress fly reel. The entire frame is SOLID brass. The spool is probably aluminum. Wonderful patina. No rust or issues. Handle is wood and crack free. All functions are very smooth and proper with a good clicker. Some residue on the inner spool. Diameter is 2 7/8" Spool width is 1" A very pretty little reel for you collection or to fish. Vintage c1930 totally refurbished PFLUEGER"No. 1774" Single Action 3" Fly reel What you are bidding on is a very special Pflueger fly reel. This"Progress" series began production in the 1920's with a raised skeleton all brass model. This model 1774 which was among the very first single action fly reels to eliminate the raised skeleton frame and an all aluminum spool. It has a counter balance brass weight and larger diameter center spool pin designed to keep the thinner braided lines of that era from kinking. This reel was chemically and sonically cleaned to remove decades of grime and oxidation. The brass and aluminum were polished and then clear lacquered to preserve its beautiful patina. The reel was thoroughly inspected to confirm components operate as intended. The reel has been lubricated and is ready for ... moreits new home. Please review the many photos of this reel. Here are the features of this refurbished Model#1774: Prized vintage 1930s era. Identifying marks of"PFLUEGER PROGRESS"NO. 1774" and"MADE IN USA" imprinted at the bottom of the head plate. Large nickel plated spool latch bolt. Refurbished. Polished, and lacquered to preserve its patina. Lubricated and ready to use. This reel was dismantled. Cleaned, polished, clear coated with lacquer, and lubricated. All mechanisms were checked for satisfactory operation. This reel cranks and retrieves perfectly. The click/pawl sounds out strongly. The drag is solid, and the spool latch bolt tightens firmly. This reel is equally suited to be a favorite ultra lite working fly reel or more probably a valued addition to your vintage reel collection.
