You are bidding on a very nice example of a vintage Orvis Madison fly reel that is marked on the bottom of the foot: British Made. The reel measures a little over 3 1/4" in diameter by 1" in width. It comes with a spare spool that has a paper label that reads: DT-5-F along with two original Orvis cases. The reel is in excellent mechanical condition. Cosmetically. I would rate the reel a 9.5. vintage Orvis Madison III fly reel NEAR MINT CONDITION ready to use immediately
Offered for sale is a vintage Orvis Madison III fly reel. The reel has seen very little use and remains in NEAR MINT CONDITION. The reel is ready to use immediately and fully spooled with a Cortland 444 double taper floating line and backing. The reel can be either right or left hand retrieve- currently right handed. The reel is complete with the Orvis reel sock(a little dirty) and Cortland fly line cleaner. And the paperwork found inside the reel sock Pictures show exactly what you will get. The reel was with the outstanding Fisher graphite 9' fly rod I also have up for sale this week- the fly rod is a 6/7 weight graphite rod that was only used a couple of times at the most. Fisher rods were made in California and were wonderful rods that are very similar in quality to the R L WINSTON rods. Some Hardy graphite rods, and some Orvis graphite ... morerods. It is my understanding that Fisher Rods made rod blanks for all the company's mentioned and others.

It is identical to the Medalist 1494 in size and frame design.
