I do see a couple of very light scratches on the black side of the reel but hardly noticeable. The fly rod is also in very good condition. I don't see a mark on it. Eyes are pristine. It's a“South Bend Black Beauty. 3685, medium action, graphite composite, 6/7 line weight. It does have a small yellow fly on the end of the line which I haven't bothered to remove. The Martin single-action fly reel is precision manufactured in the U.S.A. to give you years of trouble-free service. Frames are made of reinforced aluminum with extra strength. Machined hubs. NOS. 2-175-756 2-301-732 6 As indicated this is an automatic reel in functioning condition. When the"blue" knob is turned it does wind up the internal spring. When the external lever is depressed the internal reel spins. The piece appears to be intact with all screws. Rod attachment clip and take up lever. As seen in the attached photos this reel is in good used condition. Most of the exposed surface area is soiled with oil residue. Soiling and scratches. Cosmetically, the reel has extensive scratching, minor denting, and paint loss; but would pair nicely with an older model glass rod. The reel measures 2 7/8 diameter and 3 overall from foot. Cosmetically the reel fits its age with substantial paint loss.IMO it would rate 6/9. That said the reels functions very well in spite of the outward appearance. The clicker engages and sounds strong, so it would pair nicely with an older model glass rod. The reel measures 3 1/8" diameter x 1 1/4" wide. This is a vintage Martin Mohawk Automatic Fly Fishing reel. It believe it is working properly but it's a little rough. I don't know how these things mount on a rod. The release mechanism is rusty. But still works. Sells as is. The front is a metallic color with no corrosion. The back. Winding part is brown that shows much use. The patent research reveals the 2 patents on this reel were 1876 and the brake in 1942. A nice old reel that can still function. Good Luck with this one.

Vintage Martin REEL Co. Inc. Tuna Can" MG-3 fly reel- Mohawk, NY USA Martin MG-3“Tuna Can” fly reel For your consideration is a very light MartinMG-3 fly reel. Made in Mohawk New York. USA probably circa 1970-1980’s this adjustable tension click pawl fly reel can be loaded with WF5 down to DT1 for ultralight use. This grey specimen has some obvious paint loss as seen in photos as well some minor rusting; however cosmetically I would call this one a 7/9. Although currently set up for left hand retrieve, it can be switched to right hand with a change of the pawl direction. Mechanically the reel performs nearly flawlessly as the clicker feels and sound strong with little or no wobble- I would rate this as 8/9. These reels are very light stamped metal. This reel measures 3” x 1 ¼” and weighs 2.7 ounces empty.

But think this may have been a marriage somewhere along the way. This is not in great shape, but for the young collector, it might be perfect. It still has the nylon line on it but I have no idea if it works. When put together, it measures about 102" long. I've taken lots of pictures since I'm not a fisherman and know nothing about this.
