The 1494 has been used more than the 1495, check pics and you can tell just by the paint wear. Both spin smooth with a clear consistent clicking sound. I got this reel on a work trad e fro m a friend of mine who grew up in upstate NY. I t had belonged to his uncle who fished in the catskil l region. it is a very nice reel with it's a l umin u m spool release cover. Drag knob and ratchet plate.The round line guard. Turned pillars and amber color ed hand le are the details that make the se early pfluegers so collectable. I ncluded is the box it came in. The box is in remarkable condition with no splits/ tears I will accept returns under the usual terms so you can bid with confidence stamped on the frame. PFLUEGER MEDALIST 1494 Fly Reel - Circa late 30's early 40's
American made. Pflueger MEDALIST, and from the construction I would put it late 30's or early 40's. Model 1494 that had a reel diameter 3 1/4 inches and a thickness of about 1 1/4 inches. Not including projections. This reel. Despite it 70 +/ years of age, retains 80% of its black paint. Has the"Old style" medal spool latch cover, sculpted pillars, round medal line guide, and medal drag knob. The reel is un-cleaned, and as found, allowing the buyer to restore or leave as is. I am not a fly fisherman. I have attempted to describe this reel accurately, but the pictures should be the judge of condition. I will be happy to answer all questions, and welcome all comments, regarding my listings. I have several fly fishing items listed, and will combine shipping when economical and feasible.

One little paint wear mark on the side(shown up close in a photo) and some light dust from storage. The reel is set up for right handed retrieve but can be either right or left. The reel is complete with the original box. Paperwork.
