From my information this is a vintage Hardy made(England) CFO III fly reel. It would be great to use on a small bamboo or graphite fly rod of your choice The reel is marked made in England I am not sure of the exact manufacture date. The reel is set up for LEFT HANDED RETRIEVE but can be also set up for right handed retrieve easily. The reel remains in very very good condition. There is light paint wear around the rim but very minor. The spare spool was probably used but it sure looks any use would have been very limited. There is no fly line on the spare spool-only backing. Orvis CFO IV saltwater disc drag fly fishing reel. The reel is used but in good condition. This is the disc drag saltwater version. Not spring and pawl. Slight wear marks, but clean and precise. It currently has an Orvis 7 wt wonderline on it that I used for Steel-head. Line is a few year old, but in new condition. This was my back up reel, so it didn’t see a lot of action. The reel is made beautifully by the Hardy company for Orvis. Made in England. Rock solid piece of fly fishing equipment. Comes with Orvis leather and lambswool case. Vintage HARDYS ORVIS CFO IV FLY REEL
Here a vintage HARDY made ORVIS CFO lV FLY REEL this is one of the best reels I have ever fished. This reel is almost perfect I have really taken care of my stuff. HARDY went and built another piece of work from the heavy alloy frame.Brass reel foot, and line guards and went and painted it a gorgeous winter green which shows off all its brass components. This little power house has a perfect clicker drag that is a wonder to fish similer to the princes except for the tensioner but I actually like it a little better CFO. As I said its pretty much perfect except some very faint rubes around the rims. It also has a case and is 3 inches and can fish left or right handed as well there is not a lot of these around of this caliber as well and made in England by hardy for Orvis. thanks. Posted with

Vintage Original Orvis CFO II Fly Reel Frame (and optional spool)
Rare opportunity to add to your collection or replace your broken frame! Here's the true story: through a previous ebay purchase. The seller included this CFO III frame(without spool or reel seat post) I replaced the reel seat with a newer one from Orvis(its all they could offer) and put a Hardy Bros Marquis 2/3 sppol on it. The reel works fine. As you can see in the pictures(2) the new reel post is new, and in(5& 6) there is a slight gap between the frame and spool. I have not had any problem with line getting caught up in there. The reel is just like my Hardy Marquis 2/3, so I don't need this one. Now, that being said, Orvis has not made this reel for many, many years and now is offering a replica at an expensive price! If you already have the original classic CFO III, then here's your frame. It was brought to my attention that this might be a CFO II, but I have seen(and in the pics) three silver Roman numeral I's after the CFO name. I trust this is described as best as possible. Thanks for looking! Up for auction is an Orvis CFO III fly reel made in England by Hardy. This is the older model with the riveted pawls. I purchased this reel sometime in the 70's. And fished it 2 weeks out of the year most every year since then. It is set for a left hand wind but can be changed to right. The reel operates great and is quite smooth. Many great trout have been pulled from the Beaverkill River with this reel. Cosmetically there is light edge wear, no apparent dents or scratches, and all of the parts are original. I tried to take pictures of all the angles. This reel was submitted to Orvis about 9 months ago for a cleaning. And to spool onto it new Orvis Hydros 6 weight forward line w/ Dacron backing. Vintage Orvis CFO IV FLY RERL PLUS 2 Exta Spools & Lines
Structurally excellent but does have normal wear for its age. The Lines are all fine with 3 levels of 5wt sinking. Leather pouches for 2 extra spoils but the Orvis case for the reel is much newer in age
