I know very little about Hardy reels other then some of them can be quite expensive so here goes. I found this at a garage sale attached to an old fly rod and the way the pictures show is the way I found it. It does need a good cleaning and lubrication however the clicker is one of the loudest that I have heard on a fly reel. Looks to have normal wear to the metal body& edges and the reel seat on one end has a tiny chip of metal missing[ last pic] It's real tiny and should not be an issue. I have not found another after extensive research but believe the reel is from the 1920's and the body is nickel silver(any information would be most appreciated) The reel has a ribbed brass foot and 3-screw latch. This has line on it and it appears to be in excellent used condition with no defects that I note beyond normal wear to the finish. This is one of a number of fly fishing pieces I recently acquired from the Estate of Arthur Milliken who was headmaster of the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT from 1936 to 1956 and after whom a dormitory is named. Although I believe the whole family fished, many of the items in the estate apparently belonged to Mr. Milliken's mother, an early avid fly fisher in the early 1900's. Vintage Hardy Bros. LTD The " L.R.H Lightweight " Fly Reel England UNUSED
I don't think this reel has ever been used. It looks brand new except for some very minor scuffs that look like they just happened from being on a shelf or in a drawer. There are no marks where it would fit onto a rod(see pic) I bought this several years ago at an estate sale with a whole box of fishing equipment. I have used most of the other items and actually forgot about having this. Just rediscovered it in my shop. It is a very smooth operating reel and extremely light. Hardy Bros. LTD. The Princess 3.5” 7wt Fly Line- England This is a very nice fly reel that is light weight. Clean and ready to fish. It has been serviced and is extremely smooth. This is an older version although these reels are still made. The reel is spooled with flyline that I believe might be 7wt, WF, floating. It is in very good condition and in full working order. Nickel silver rim tension screw and reversible line guide so that it can be fished both left and right hand wind.
