One day while pulling a bamboo pole out of the stack for a customer, Lew was disappointed with the inconsistency from one pole to the next. The moment of reflection triggered his insatiable thirst to build better fishing products than anyone else. Lew began experimenting with homegrown bamboo, figuring out the best growths to cut and how to temper and finish the poles so they would keep their shape indefinitely. Wow! Heres a nice one. 3 piece split cane/bamboo spinning rod with extra tip. Comes with the original sock and what looks to be a wooden 4 sided section holder covered in green canvas. Notice that hole in the top of the canvas sock. All 4 sections are 35 inches each give or take a bit. 8 ft. 9 inch complete? I cant find any markings anywhere. So it could be a custom made rod or maybe an import? Tip tops are very unusual to me. One winding is a differant color on the butt section, so it may have been rewraped? I dont know much about these kind of rods, so just look it over and use your own judgement. Neat rod either way in pretty good shape. Very hard to find model. Wow! Look closely and bid accordingly. This is a Vintage Horrocks& Ibbotson Bamboo Fly Rod. This is a"Beaverkill" model. It is a 3 piece 2 tip model with a length of 8.5 feet. The rod has been beautifully refinshed and the cane is a very light color. The label is about 95% present with just a chip or 2 missing. The handwritting is legible.The sections are all full length and pretty straight. I Use the zoom on the pics to see the detail on them. Manufacturer: Horrocks& Ibbotson Co. Utica New York 3 piece 2 tips Model: Governor Fly Rod Tonkin cane bamboo Handle: Cork Defects: The middle piece has one line guide rethreaded. One tip section has a line guide with a scuff on threads and the spacing is off slightly(see the magnified picture of tip) The bamboo is tight inside the ferrule. On Oct-09-14 at 08:07:02 PDT. Seller added the following information: The first ferrules metal to metal comes off with a pop(not to lose not too tight) however the bamboo to ferrule on the female side is loose.the metal to metal for the tip piece is very tight and should be serviced or will stick. This is an old Bamboo cane pole. It has cast ends with threads to joint the three parts together. The eyelet on the end is very primitive. Vintage 3 Piece Bamboo Split Cane Fly Rod & Carrier, For Parts or Restoration

I am sure there was originally a second tip but it is gone. I am including a spare section that is from another rod just on the theory that the new owner may have a use for it and it will fill up the groove on the rod case/carrier. This particular rod is now a three piece and assembles to 118 inches with no missing legth or repairs to the bamboo. It is nice and straight. The three pieces. Plus the spare freebee section, will come on the rods original grooved wood storage carrier. It has ties attached that keep everything snuggly in place. Presently the sections are as follows: Base is 41 inches long. Nice and straight with no set and no cracks. ... moreCane repairs, or splits. Has two snake guides in place. Thre e wraps are missing. Twelve wraps are in place plus four more wraps for the guides. One of the guide wraps is a later repair wrap. Chromed brass Socket is in place and in good shape. Cork is in good condition. No missing chunks. Reel seat looks good and seems to work fine. There are some dents on the butt end. Middle section is also 41 inches. Cane is nicely intact with no cracks or repairs and no separations. Nice and straight with no set. Has three snake guides. Three of the snake guide wraps are later repair wraps. There are 18 other wraps and three missing wraps. Numerous wraps are either old and dry or loose and in need of repair or replacement. Chromed brass socket and ferrule are in good shape and nicely in place. They fit together pretty well with their mates. Top section is 38 inches. Tip top is in it's original location. There are three snake guides. Top snake guide has two replacement wraps and the other two have their original wraps. There are 22 other wraps and one missing wrap. Vintage Cane Bamboo Fishing Pole, 11' 5", 3 piece, circa 1950
This beautiful toasted 3 piece cane or bamboo fishing pole is in great shape. Ferrules and tip-top guide are aluminum. This a dip style fishing pole so there is only a line guide on the tip. This would be great for man-cave or interior decorating. If you want to use for actual fishing you would need to re-glue the ferrules on the bamboo because they are a little loose& polish up the fittings so they fit better and can pulled apart again.

This very large(diameter/circumference) and long rod has 3 pieces that screw together. I screwed them together and all works great! Not sure if it is complete as it does not any line guides? And on the tip there is something like a spring wrapped around the end? No markings anywhere that I could find. Comes with a plastic shipping/storage tube and sock.
