VTG SHAKESPEARE WONDEROD ONE PIECE WOODEN HANDLE DEEP SEA CASTING ROD NO RESERVE
For your consideration we are offering for sale this vintage Shakespeare Wonderod. The rod is a thicker fiberglass rod that was meant for deep sea fishing or at least bigger salt water fish. The rod has a wooden handle with some of the varnish wearing. Needs to be refinished. The fiberglass is not cracked and in good vintage condition. There are a total of 4 eyelets and they are securely in place and in good condition. The guide that slides over the reel handle to secure the reel to the rod has the metal split(see last image) but could be replaced. The total length of the rod is 83 1/2" inches. At the thickest area of the fiberglass, it measures 2" inches around. This rod is a great collector item and would be a beautiful wall hanger in that special fishing cave. You are bidding on a Shakespeare Howald Process glass casting Rod. The rod is 2 pc. 5' light action. The only markings are on the ferrule. It has"Model 1180L FHJ" This code means the rod was manufactured in Feb. 1953. It has the obvious spiral markings of the Wonderod. The handle is wood. It has 5 eyes including the tip. Everything seems original. The wrap on the tip is different. It is very old looking so I assume it is the original. The wrappings have begun to fray a little. The wood handle shows some crazing and a couple chips due to age. The rod blank has some minor wear from normal use. You should use the pictures to help determine the condition. Color and hardware.
