This auction is for a Vintage Genuine Tonkin Cane Heavy Weight Boat Rod Horrocks Ibbotson. Utica, NY. The name on the rod is"Sarasota" H-I Sarasota. Approx. Weight 9 oz. 4 1/2 Ft. Tip. Made in USA. This rod is in excellent condition for its age. I believe it is from the 1930s or 1940s. The rod does come in the original bag but the bag has some age issues. Also the rod had 1 broken eye. Vintage P&K Modernist split bamboo tonkin cane fly fishing rod 8 1/2 feet long
I have for sale a hard to find and great size vintage 8&1/2 food split bamboo fly rod with tube and sock. Ready for fishing or collecting. Label is P&K otherwise known as Pachner and Koller out of Chicago. Rod looks like it was made by Horrocks and Ibbotson(H&I) There are two re-wraps on the mid section but all sections are equal length. Beautiful agate or agatine stripper guide on the butt section. each section measures 35 inches long and when fitted together the rod is 102 inches or 8 feet. 6 inches long. Nice length for a 3 piece rod. Rod probably dates to late 1940's early 1950's. Check out the pictures!

Vintage Fly Fishing Rod ~ 9' Horrocks - Ibbotson Tonkin Cane "Vernley" Model
This is a beautiful old vintage fly fishing rod. It was made by Horrocks- Ibbotson Co. Utica New York. This company is one of the oldest makers of fishing rods in America. It is a Vernley model and is marked"Impregnated Tonkin Cane" with the"Vernley" signature. This is a three piece rod that has an extra tip end piece. It measures 9' not including the extra piece. The handle is cork with gray plastic marble reel seat. The pole comes in a olive drab green cloth sewn for each individual section. And a silver metal protective tube. The original screw lid is missing, but has been secured. I inherited this rod from my 94 year old great-grandfather, and it doesn't appear to have been used much at all, as it is in excellent condition. I've heard this rod was made in the 1940's. VINTAGE BAMBOO BOAT/CASTING FISHING ROD TWO PIECE - TONKIN CANE
You are bidding on a VINTAGE BAMBOO BOAT/CASTING FISHING ROD with old style(thick metal) double guides on the tip section and one tip guide. It has a nice handle and metal reel seat. There is nothing wrong mechanically that I can see. However the female ferrule and tip guide have been wrapped with what looks to be some kind of red tape(looks orange in the photos due to the flash) The female ferrule also looks to have been wrapped with a silver material(I would not call it tape but more of a decal looking type of material- looks white in photos due to flash but is silver in color) These wraps look nice and seem to be quite tight. The ferrule connection fits together nicely. It measures 5 feet and 6 inches long when assembled. The rubber end cap on the handle does not appear to be the original as it appears to be not as long as would the original. ... moreIt does show some scuffs or stains to affect the appearance somewhat, but a lot of this will clean up. On the side of the rod I can make out the words Tonkin Cane in cursive writing and a number that is M/ 97(can’t be sure of the 97, it might be 99 or some other combination) Pictures are part of the description. This is a vintage Horrocks Ibbotson 106" Tonkin Cane 3-piece rod with the original cloth case. It is the' Old Hi's Hi test' model with the desirable'Trout and Diamond' decal. Its year is somewhere between 1914 and 1929: Decals are useful for dating Horrocks-Ibbotson rods. The diamond with the UTK logo dates from 1905 until World War I. This logo is usually stamped into the reel seat. But also appears as a decal. The Trout logo decal was then used until 1929. It is rarely seen and is the most beautiful of the H-I decals. Next to appear was an elongated Double Diamond with Utica. NY inside; it was used until 1933. In 1934, a double-diamond logo including the banner reading Best by Test was introduced and was used until 1939. VINTAGE HORROCKS IBBOTSON GOVERNOR FISHING ROD TONKIN CANE 9' W/ CASE & BAG
Up for bid is a very nice. Very gently pre-owned vintage Horrocks Ibbotson Governor Tonkin Cane fishing rod. This package comes with the original aluminum storage tube, 4 section cloth bag for the rod, complete 3 segment fishing rod(9 foot) and 1 spare end segment(3 foot eye segment) The wood grain and lacquer are in amazing condition. The metal, thread, and handle screw are in amazing shape. The handle cork has a little wear from little use. The cloth bag is in good shape from having been stored in the metal tube for many years and it has a small hole in the end where one of the rod ends poked through. The aluminum tube is in great shape with just one ding in it and some wear from the years. See the pictures to get an idea of how very nice this set is! Vintage Horrocks-Ibbottson (H-I) 'Ontario' Tonkin Cane Fishing Rod - 2 Piece
This vintage rod fits together in 2 pieces and measures approximately 56 inches. The shorter handle piece is 20” and the tip piece is 36” On the reel end is a decal that has the H-I“trout” symbol. However the H-I and Utica parts of the decal have been rubbed out. Alongside the decal is written the model name, Ontario” There is also another sticker with“Tonkin Cane” written on it that is partially worn away. According to a website Horrocks-Ibbottson rods with the trout decal are rare(see below) Decals are useful for dating Horrocks-Ibbotson rods. The diamond with the UTK logo dates from 1905 until World War I. This logo is usually stamped into the reel seat. But also appears as a decal. The Trout logo decal was then used until 1929. It is rarely seen and is the most beautiful of the H-I decals. This would date the rod as being made between ... more1914 and 1929. It was purchased at an estate auction of a 92 year old former naval officer. The rod also comes with the original rod sock. NOTE– The rod has some condition issues. Hence the low starting price. The cane is split on both sections, the cork is worn with a small pieces missing on the butt end, and the decals are partially worn away. It is a very old rod!
