Vintage P&K Modernist split bamboo tonkin cane fly fishing rod 8 1/2 feet long
I have for sale a hard to find and great size vintage 8&1/2 food split bamboo fly rod with tube and sock. Ready for fishing or collecting. Label is P&K otherwise known as Pachner and Koller out of Chicago. Rod looks like it was made by Horrocks and Ibbotson(H&I) There are two re-wraps on the mid section but all sections are equal length. Beautiful agate or agatine stripper guide on the butt section. each section measures 35 inches long and when fitted together the rod is 102 inches or 8 feet. 6 inches long. Nice length for a 3 piece rod. Rod probably dates to late 1940's early 1950's. Check out the pictures!

Vintage Fly Fishing Rod ~ 9' Horrocks - Ibbotson Tonkin Cane "Vernley" Model
This is a beautiful old vintage fly fishing rod. It was made by Horrocks- Ibbotson Co. Utica New York. This company is one of the oldest makers of fishing rods in America. It is a Vernley model and is marked"Impregnated Tonkin Cane" with the"Vernley" signature. This is a three piece rod that has an extra tip end piece. It measures 9' not including the extra piece. The handle is cork with gray plastic marble reel seat. The pole comes in a olive drab green cloth sewn for each individual section. And a silver metal protective tube. The original screw lid is missing, but has been secured. I inherited this rod from my 94 year old great-grandfather, and it doesn't appear to have been used much at all, as it is in excellent condition. I've heard this rod was made in the 1940's. The rod in casting configuration is two pieces, approximately 68" in length. The fly configuration is three pieces, approximately 103" in length. The reel holder tightens firmly. The handle is cork and does have a chunk out of it(probably where hooks were placed into it, see pictures) The center section of the fly configuration has slightly darker cane and the wrappings are dark blue not dark green, however all the pieces fit together properly and firm. This is an OLD Horrock Ibbotson President(possibly the 1930's) The rod is in excellent condition for its age. It is a dark Bamboo Octagonal 3 piece fly rod with deep red& gold wrap every couple of inches along the length of the rod. The HI sticker is still on it in good condition and on the opposite side of this HI Stamp is the word"PRESIDENT" The cork is old and darkened over the years but in excellent condition with some deck rashing but nothing major. The reel seat is in great condition. This rod had 11 eye's(including the tip) when new(One missing right near where you would pull two pieces apart) The total rod length is 9 foot. And weighs just under 7 ounces. I have a really old rod bag that goes with this, but I can not verify that this was an original issue. Please write with ANY questions or concerns. Horrocks Ibbotson, "Beaver" Split Bamboo Fly Rod "Tonkin Cane" 8'6"
Nicely restored approx. 8 ft. 9 inch Horrocks Ibbotson Beaver. There are 3 rod sections. No cracks, or crazing in the finish. There are no defects in the bamboo. The varnish is very good. Both the model Beaver and the Horrocks decal reasonably good shape for being around 70 years old. There are no cracks, corrosion or other ferrule defects. The cork handle and reel seat are new with new insert. All snake guides are double footed with new wraps. I have fished this rod since restoration and it is FUN. Great little 4-5 wt. The original cloth bag is in pretty good shape.

Tomkin Cane(all in yellow cursive writting) This section measure just a little over 36 1/2" Middle section measures 36 1/2" Tip also measures 36 1/2" All wrapping looks the same as well as solid eyelets. Finish is believed to also be original, it is not a smooth finish and looks to have a alligator texture, possibly stored in an area with high temperature. Rod sock has 4 sleeve compartments. Their are reminants of paper lable marked One High Grade FIsh Rod Made in the USA. Paul Bunyan Bait Company No 50. Aluminum tube with screw off top. Not sure if the tube is original but it fits. Vintage Union Hardware Tonkin Cane Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a vintage union hardware Tonkin cane bamboo fly rod in excellent used condition. Fly rod is in like new condition and comes with original sock. But no tube. Rod is a 3 piece and comes with extra tip. Fly rod is in all original condition and line guides are clean, tight and pieces are very straight. First line guide looks to be slightly bent but still very glossy and tightly wrapped. Length of fly rod is just over 9 feet and each piece is about 37 inches in length. Union hardware and made in the USA is stamped on reel seat of rod. Handle is very clean and shows no wear as rod may have only been used once or twice, reel seat is made of plastic. Vintage Fly Rod Horricks Hibbotson Genuine Tonkin Split Cane w Case & Tube & Bag
Here for auction is a very nice vintage split cane flyrod with its cloth case and also the aluminum tube. It also came with a small fishing bag that has a pop open top with an aluminum metal thingy that keeps it rigid at the top. The inside of the bag is a bit worse for wear. The rod decal states: Genuine Tonkin Cane and is made by Horrocks Hibbotson. I believe it to be an H1 although that part of the decal is worn. There are 6 pieces to the rod. I will list their sizes in order of largest to smallest. 1: 17 7/8. 2; 17.75, 3: 17.75, 4: 17 5/8, 5: 17.75, and 6:12 7/8” All the metal parts are in great shape. One of the eyes has tape on it so I would presume that the cording came undone at some point. All the eyes are unbent. There are no breaks or repairs. The finish is quite nice. Here for your consideration is a vintage 9' dry fly. Tonkin cane, fishing rod made by Abbey& Imbrie of New York. This item comes in three sections plus an extra tip section for 4 pieces total. This auction includes the fabric 4 piece section holder as well as the original aluminum tube protector. There are no cracks or splits to the rod itself. I have included photos to show you the tips of each piece where damage would most likely occur. All of the line guides are intact and there is no unraveling of the thread holding the guides. Vintage fishing equipment is not my area of expertise and I have provided information that was on the rod itself or the label on the aluminum tube. I did measure the rod as being 9 feet long.
