VINTAGE UNION HARDWARE STEEL FLY FISHING ROD 3 PARTS NEED WORK
Union Hardware Company of Torrington. Conn. They sold a lot of rods in the first half of the 1900s. They had several steel rod models in the 1910-1930 time frame. Marked: Union Hardware VIM. extruded steel rod. It is hollow. Extruded as one piece of molten steel and you will notice the taper in the rod as you run your finger along the length.you can feel where it steps down in size as you go toward the tip. The steel fly rods work pretty well. I am not sure if this rod is complete with the 3 pieces. The cover is very worn out ALL SALES ARE FINAL- SORRY NO RETURNS

Vintage - Union Hardware Steel Telescopic Rod 8'-6"
This rod is un-cleaned and unrestored. The sections telescope with effort. There are no bend or kinks in the rod. The first section had 80% of its original black paint. And the end section has, I would guess none, and is cloaked in a nice rust red dusty pantina. The middle section is somewhere in between. The cork handle is in good physical condition, not crumbly or loose. The middle eyes are tight and straight, and the end rod tip had a slight bend to one side. The ring to keep the reel on is split, and I don't know if it was constructed this way, or damaged. The rod collaped is 43" overall. I did some quick research. And it dated this rod from 1910 to the 1930's with me leaning towards the later. I believe this would make a great restoration project for the angler into vintage equipment. I am not a fly-fisherman but have acquired ... morea bunch of rods and reels at local auctions. I'll start the bids off low. And let the ebay community set the values. You are bidding on a vintage early 1900's union hardware Samson steel fly fishing rod. It is in good condition for its age and you can fish with it. The reel works but it does not click anymore. It extends out over 7 foot measured from the front of the handle. The loops on each section are made of brass. The rod is surprisingly light with great action. The cork handle is in good condition with little wear.There is two small red paint spots on the first section of the rod which can be removed. Good luck

This is an uncommon example of an early 20th century steel telescopic fishing rod from the Union Hardware Company. Torrington, Conn. USA. It is marked as the"Samson Steel Rod" and it does have a great feel to it, it is surprisingly light and flexible. It extends telescopically from a minimum length of 40 inches to a maximum of 10 feet. The cork handle is a little worn as shown but is intact and the rod is fully functional, although it looks as though there should have been a cap on the handle end. This vintage rod is in very good condition. The tip section slides a little to easily. Can be tightened with a light crimp at the joint, best left to the new owner. Lot 5 Vintage Steel Fishing Rods Telescoping Luckie Bristol Union Hardware
For sale is a lot of 5 vintage steel fishing rods. 4 of them are telescoping and one is not. The one piece solid rod I cannot find a maker on. All of the rods are in poor or fair used condition. The cork on many of them has been chewed up or worn down. Most have some level of rust and can be a little difficult to move. Ends on a few of these are also bent. Well worn, but some could still be used or they would be perfect for rustic decorating! Here are some additional details on each rod: One piece rod I am not sure of maker this one is probably in the best shape too. 5' 4" Luckie rod the end piece does not stay in and will pull all the way out. 8' Union Hardware pistol grip end piece also pulls out on this one. 7' 11" Bristol green handle end bent. Furrows are brass. The eye guides are glass. It measures 5 1/2 ft. long; I assembled it and fits together good. Everying is intact. Very nice rod.

Vintage Union Hardware Co Steel Telescopic Fishing Rod w/ an Executive attached
Very good shape. Cork is chewed a little and the finish has come off the rod quite a bit. But everything is in working order. The full length is 106 3/4" The Executive by Shakespeare is a Free Spool No. 1992 I bought it in an estate auction. I have more vintage fishing equipment that I will be putting on soon so follow me. Vtg Union Hardware Steel Bait Casting Rod Pat. 1933
Vintage Union Hardware steel bait casting rod. Measures 55" long/ Cork handle. Patented 1933(1923035) reel lever type fastener. Looks like stainless steel metal. Cork handle has a chip at bottom. Red glass guides. End guide is broken in middle. Don't know if the end guide had a glass guide at one time. Lever reel lock works great. I just tried a old reel I had to see if it would work. You are bidding on the rod only not the reel. Rod is a pea green in color. I see no other defects other that the cork handle chip& the rod tip broken. Good luck. Union Hardware Co. Torrington Conn. Telescopic Steel Casting rod 50"
Offered is a vintage Union Hardware Co. telescopic steel casting rod. The rod when retracted is 18" in length. The rod when extended is 50" in length. It extends and retracts with no problems. I believe these are agate eyes. And all seem to be in good condition. I don't believe the tip is original and is broken and being held on with adhesive. It does have some rust and corrosion.
