You are bidding on a vintage Wright& McGill Denco 8' No. B- 8A8 7 weight fly rod. This rod is in very good condition. The guides are secure and the wraps are tight. The wraps have minor unravelling on two of the guides as seen in the pictures. The cork is in very good condition with the exception of a small section being trimmed above the reel seat as seen in the last picture. This was probably done to accomodate a larger reel. It is marked for 7 weight line but I think it throws a WF-6-F line equally well in my back yard. It was made in Denver Colorado. We have no tube or rod sack for this rod. This rod is used but extremely nice for one of these older eagle claws. Both pieces are exactly the same length. All of the wraps are good and are original. The cork is good and without hook picking. The rod itself is fiberglass and has a cork handle. The cork is in good shape. The label on the pole this clearly visible. The rod also comes with a Garcia Mitchell 300 C spinning reel. The reel works great. It has a little residue on it from age. The label is in great condition. Gear ratio- 3.8: 1. SMOOTH DRAG 2 SETS TIMEKEN roller bearing for smooth retrieval. Here is a near new fishing pole produced by Wright& McGill out of Denver. Colorado. This rod is an Eagle Claw Denco Super IV. No. DNTR323-7 FT. 213 cm) TROLLING ROD. This pole appears to possibly been used a time or two and that is it. Every item on the pole is sparkling like new. Pole has a two foot handle made of wood and cork. The Eagle Claw brass badge is perfect. The only wear is at the joint where a very slight amount of bubbling on the clear coat has occurred. The rod probably was used-it remains just beautiful for a 50 year old fiberglass fly rod! Rod is stamped Wright McGill"Denco" 8 1/2 ft No b 8 a 81/2 trade mark LINE 7 there is also an eagle stamp and the leters O-H There is also a an early metal tab on the cork handle marked Eagle Claw I am not exactly sure of the age-late 1950-early 1960's is a guess. These rods were built for quality at a low-end price. The original Denco rods were made of golden brown glass, red nylon wraps. In the early sixties these rods would change to feature Green nylon wrapping and gold mylar trim. Then once again in 1970 the rods would return to have red nylon wraps. The original Denco rod was then replaced in 1978 by the Denco Super II which could be recognized by the red nylon wrapping with gold trim. The three rods from top to bottom in the main picture are as follows: Eagle Claw Denco Super IV# DNSR229- 8'6" spinning rod with solid nylon fray proof guide wraps in red, Wright McGill Seattle Special# MSSS- 8'6" spinning rod and finally the Wright McGill granger# MA9SH- 9' A couple of minor issues in that only one of the rods has the typical crest badge on the cork and that the granger is a little tight fitting when putting the 2 pieces together. It needs some lubricant or sanding to get it to fit well. It goes in but not all the way as it had previous corrosion and needs cleaning. All the cork is good but dirty. You are bidding on these 2 old Wright& McGill spinning rods for one money. The larger one is a Pacific Northwest model and is 8'6" in length. The other is a 7' Denco# 770. Both rods show wear but all wraps are tight and original. The eyelets on each rod are all present and pretty clean given their age. No trailing strings etc. The emblem appears to be missing from the larger rod but I don't think it came with the Denco as the handle is the real old version with the rings holding the reel seat to the handle. You cant go wrong with a DENCO by WRIGHT McGill for a 1960s fiberglass rod this looks perfect not a rub or scratch not even on the reel seat I would bet its never been fished a reel barn find it has a bronze colored uplocking reel seat and perfect cigar cork grip a darker brown blank with excellent tight dark olive green wraps a hard chrome stripper and black snake guides the first guide is chrome as it looks if its been professionally replaced but with out close observation you would never know the ferrells are tight with the distinctive pop and chrome tip top its a great 8 1/2ft. 7wt. midflex denco by the wright McGill corporation and lawn cast a wt forward 7 and 6wt line perfect with tight loops you wont be disappointed and be hard to find a better one. Up for auction is a vintage Wright& McGill Eagle Claw Denco Super II spinning fishing rod. Rod has scratches. Rusting, rub marks, the medallion is gone and the lower reel seat collar has a cut in it( photo 7) We will combine shipping where it is possible. Sometimes the items are too big and too heavy to package in the same box! If you win multiple auctions do not pay until we send you a combined shipping invoice.
