Manufacturer Milward, Length(mm) 2780, Weight(g) 300, Condition The rod is in pretty good shape. The bindings are all tight and unfrayed. Canes are all well stuck together and not separating anywhere. All eyes are present and undamaged. Although they all have surface rust and would definitely need to be cleaned up if it was ever to be used. The varnish is not flaking, however it is showing its age with crazing and wrinkling. Cork on the butt is good but age discoloured. All the brass fittings are good, just need a good clean and polish. The bag is very discoloured and perished in quite a few spots. Vintage ~"Hardy Palakona The Wye" 3 Piece Split Cane Salmon Fly Rod With Bag PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ON THE UK SITE AND LISTED IN GB POUNDS. Vintage Hardy"Palakona The Wye" 3 Piece Split Cane Salmon Fly Rod. This fabulous"Hardy's" Palakona The Wye" rod is in good"as found" condition and it has not been restored or repaired by us. The rod measures 12 foot 6 inches. including the handle) in overall length. The fittings and adjustable"screw-grip" reel seat to the butt section are in aluminium, these do show some minor patches of discolouration and the rubber butt end is a little rough and discoloured. It has"lockfast" joints. Which are all marked with the number"2" they have retained much of their original finish and are a good snug fit. All of the rings are present and ... morewell attached, the top and bottom ring are agate lined. The burgundy whipping is in good order and the joints have been whipped in copper wire for additional strength. There is no crazing to the varnish but there are one or two small chips and fading in colour to the whipping underneath the rings. There is also a small section in between the 4th and 5th rings to the top section where the varnish has lost colour. The top section of the rod has a slight kink or set to the right. The aluminum butt and reel ring has"Made by Hardy's England" and the number"H62331" 1964) Just above the handle the rod has"Regd. Trademark Palakona" The Wye" 9" and"12 1/2 FT" hand written in indian ink. The rod has its' original bag. The rod has a lovely feel when held. Well balanced, sturdy, and it has taken on a super depth of colour over the years. All in all this is a very nice. Useable example of a classic"Hardy Brothers" rod. This fabulous"Hardy's" The Hardy Fly" rod is in good"as found" condition and it has not been restored or repaired by us. The rod measures 12 foot 6 inches. including the handle) in overall length. The butt and reel fittings are in brass, these have retained much of their original finish. It has"lockfast" joints. Which are a good snug fit, these too have retained much of their original finish. All of the rings are present and well attached, the top and bottom rings are agate lined, however, some do show signs of surface rust. The burgundy whipping is in good order and there is no crazing ... moreto the varnish but there are some small patches of discolouration. The top sections of the rod have a slight kinks or"sets" to the left. The rod does have a spare tip. The brass butt has"Hardy Bros. Makers, Alnwick" and the number"A16075" 1906) Just above the handle the rod has"Regd. Trademark Palakona" The hardy Fly" and"5" hand written in indian ink. The rod has its' original bag. The rod has a lovely feel when held. Well balanced, sturdy, and it has taken on a super depth of colour over the years. All in all this is a very nice. SPLIT CANE TRAVEL FLY ROD, 8', 4 PIECE, + BAG
This item is a split cane travel fly rod with bag. No maker's name. It is four piece. 8 feet long, and comes with a fairly worn bag. The top section has been broken and has a whipped repair and has a slight set in it. Rings(all bridge) whippings(one missing on top section) varnish, cork and reel fittings are all in good condition, but the end button on the butt section is missing. There are wood and cork plugs for the bottom two sections. I imagine this rod would take a light line, say#4/5. Not a bad little rod for travelling despite its deficiencies.

Split-Cane Fly Rod, 3 Piece, Very Nice, Possibly Edwards
Up for auction is a gorgeous 3 piece. 1 tip bamboo fly rod. The maker's name is basically unknown, however, from the reel seat and ferrules it could be an Edwards. It was obviously a very well-made rod considering the level of craftsmanship shown in the reel seat and ferrules. They are nickel silver and very nicely made. This rod has obviously been refinished at some point and very well. Indeed. Although the tipping wraps are a bit wide, it must be understood that not all of the oldest makers used tiny, thin tipping like you find today on the best fly rods. I suspect this is a very old fly rod due to the configuration of the reel seat and the overall action of the rod. It is a slow action rod. Whippy even. But once you get used to it there is a certain gracefulness to a slow action rod that is a bit addictive. The tip is 1.25" short ... morewith the other two sections coming in at 35.75" so this was a 9' rod originally. It takes a fairly light line, a four or five weight works well. A well-made cotton. Sectioned bag and quality aluminum screw top tube are included with this rod. This fly rod is not perfect. If it were. I would be asking much more than I am here. However imperfect it might be, it is nevertheless a very beautiful old bamboo rod in what is actually superb condition. Take it fishing. That's what it was made for!

Hardy Split Cane Three Piece Fly Fishing Rod, With Two Tips And Wading Stick.
The wading stick is hollow. Has a brass cap, and one of the spare tips fits inside. I'm not sure what the material is but it's absolutely gorgeous. It has a six inch hairline split about 15" from the bottom so would need a epoxy? repair before it could be actually used as a wading stick. Personally I wouldn't use it for wading it would get wrecked. Now to the rod. There is a screw missing from the bottom reel seat fitting which has three small screws going into cork. Slightly larger screws would beef up this fitting. The rings. Whippings, ferrules and fixings all look to be in good order. One of the top sections, I assume the one which has been used, has a slight bend in it, and light line wear, however the spare top section is straight as an arrow and in the finest fettle. The canvas bag unfortunately. Is not the original ... morebut fitting for a rod from this period. This item will be carefully packed and tracked. Here is a nice vintage Hardy Bros split can fishing rod. No damage or repairs found. When together it measures about 82 inches long. The rod itself measures 68 inches with 2 inches of that fitting into the handle. I can not make out the writing on the pole near the handle. Includes the original carrying bag and spanner wrench. Bag has been poked through at the end and wrench has a little rust. Both easy to fix, but hard to find. Also includes the wood and cork cap that goes into the handle to protect the end. here is a lovely hardy taupo fly rod each lenght measures 41 inches its a 3 piece 10ft model that has had new eyes whipped on apart from the top one thats original with red agate and the rod is full length. it has been varnished and looks great only couple small things the cork has a very small piece missing see pics and a tiny bit of corrosion on screw thread for reel but doesn't affect the rod at all. the rod is lovely and straight comes in its sock and 1 stopper.it has the number h24621 on the seat with the usual hardy logos. the ari hart taupo reel does not come with the rod thank you. I am sure there was originally a second tip but it is gone. I am including a spare section that is from another rod just on the theory that the new owner may have a use for it and it will fill up the groove on the rod case/carrier. This particular rod is now a three piece and assembles to 118 inches with no missing legth or repairs to the bamboo. It is nice and straight. The three pieces. Plus the spare freebee section, will come on the rods original grooved wood storage carrier. It has ties attached that keep everything snuggly in place. Presently the sections are as follows: Base is 41 inches long. Nice and straight with no set and no cracks. ... moreCane repairs, or splits. Has two snake guides in place. Thre e wraps are missing. Twelve wraps are in place plus four more wraps for the guides. One of the guide wraps is a later repair wrap. Chromed brass Socket is in place and in good shape. Cork is in good condition. Cane is nicely intact with no cracks or repairs and no separations. Nice and straight with no set. Has three snake guides. Three of the snake guide wraps are later repair wraps. There are 18 other wraps and three missing wraps. Numerous wraps are either old and dry or loose and in need of repair or replacement. Chromed brass socket and ferrule are in good shape and nicely in place. They fit together pretty well with their mates. Top section is 38 inches. Tip top is in it's original location. There are three snake guides. Top snake guide has two replacement wraps and the other two have their original wraps. There are 22 other wraps and one missing wrap.
