A beautiful vintage rod in excellent condition. This rod is from Orchard Industries in Detroit. Michigan. The rod has seen very little use, if any and is complete and undamaged. All guides and handle are in excellent condition. The handle is 11 inches long and the rod portion is 52 inches in length. RARE VINTAGE METAL ACTION ROD ORCHARD INDUSTRIES/ DETRIOT/ / REEL&ORIGINAL.BOX
This is a great old Vintage ACTION-ROD made byOrchad Industries in Detriot Mich. The Rod is metal and looks virtually industructable and has the original hard wood protector and original cloth case. The cloth case has a hole or two in the bottom and the zipper is broken. The wooden pc. is 54 inches long with the total lengh of the rod being around 53 inches with about 3 inches of those inches sliding into the handle and screwing securely to the handle. The handle measures 10 3/4 inches and is stamped Thomas G. Lehman and has two screw adjustments. One to attach the reel and the other to attach the rod. If you have never held one of these you can't fully appreciate how the handle fits your hand with the finger hold feeling as comfortable as your arm. Rather than cork which was standard for the day, its handle is made of a dense, seemingly industructable composite material. most likely tenite. It is in a nice deep maroon color with bone white accents. The handle and all of the metal compression ... morehardware are in excellent condition. The writing on the reel seat reads: Action-Rod, Orchard Industries, Inc. Detroit, 12, Mich. Pat. No. 1920966 other Pat. Pend. This patent was for the design of the handle and reel clamping device. It was issued to one Joseph Carlson of Detroit, Mich. on August 8, 1933. This is a very clean old rod. Please check out the pictures carefully. There is no physical damage on it anywhere. All of the line guides and wraps are intact. Straight and tight. The guide wraps are made of copper wire. There is no rust on it presently but there is some pitting along the rod blade. This is a very unique piece of Americana fishing history and it will add significantly to most any vintage or antique fishing tackle collection. This is a Vintage Model 5500 Action Rod- see all 4 photos below. Fresh out of a local estate. It still had the original plastic wrapping on it when I got it. But the wrapping was falling apart due to age. It has never been used, but it shows some wear from storage. It is a 2 piece rod and it measures 6'6" total length. Orchard Industries Action Rod - Metal Fishing Rod Vintage Antique Detroit
Up for auction is a Orchard Industries Action Rod Vintage metal fishing rod and red/white bakelite handle. Overall very nice shape for its age. Does show some wear from use. Rod length of 53" and the handle measures 10 3/4" Comes in the carry case(what I believe to be original) and wooden holder for the rod. No bends in the rod and the eyelets are straight. The handle is also in great shape with no cracks in the bakelite. There is some slight flaking on the left side of the handle where the reel would sit and there are two rips in the carry case as well as some bowing in the wood rod holder, show in the pictures. Auction includes plastic sleeve that matches the colored rings on handle of pole and also the original zippered bag. This pole looks so nice that I'm not sure it was really ever used. Metal pole is glissening and plastic on handle show almost no wear if any. Looks like owner carved his name on to base of pole. Plastic sleeve shows very little wear with no cracks or splits. It does have a cork in end. Bag has some stain and former owners initials written on it. Zipper works nicely. Going to be hard to find one much nicer. Being sold as is. Three Vintage Fishing Rods: Two Action-Rod; All say: Action-Rod. Orchard Industries, Detroit 12 MICH. Pat. No. 1920966. Rods are in fair condition, you can see both show some corrosion, tarnishing, and rust. The end loop on the one rod is broken off and the other rod was unscrewed from the handle. The threads look ok and it does appear it can be screwed back in. The third rod says; STERLING" New Baltimore Mich. Pat. 1920966. Rod is in excellent condition. Vintage Action Rod By Orchard Industries 55in PAT 1920966 Chrome/w Pflueger reel
Very interesting rod the shaft is not round but triangle shaped. Chrome looks very nice with no rust or pitting. Rod screws in to handle and locks. Bake-o-lite handles with a few light scratches.
