VINTAGE SOUTH BEND 7'6" SPLIT BAMBOO SALTWATER ROD, SIMILAR TO HEDDON NO. 44
This no-reserve auction features an ultra rare. Circa 1930s, South Bend 7-1/2 foot split bamboo saltwater rod in excellent overall condition. It's a heavy duty one-piece rod with an extremely rare dowel-style handle, and it has a knurled nickel silver male ferrule on the butt end of the rod section(indeed, a dowel-style handle is even rare on vintage Heddon saltwater rods, with only the heavy duty no. 44"Reef Rod" having one) The South Bend model number, 2V6022, was hand written in black India ink by the maker at the factory, and the South Bend decal is wholly in tact, with only a couple of fish scales appearing over the top of it. The handle section measures 21-3/4" has a metal butt cap affixed, and the wooden portion was made of stained oak. The up-locking heavy duty reel seat has an outside diameter of 1-1/16" and ... moreis chrome plated. The fore grip is also made from stained wood and measures 5-1/4" The one-piece split bamboo rod section has an overall length of 69-1/8" is straight, and the male ferrule on its butt end was made of knurled nickel silver(please see the last picture) Moreover, the ferrule fits very tightly into the handle section. As noted above, the overall length when assembled is 7-1/2 feet. The guides appear to have been made of plated nickel silver, and they are all present and in great shape. The rod is also entirely factory original, including its varnish. The original blood-red silk guide wraps are all there, too, but two of them have become brittle with age and have come undone. They could easily be rewrapped, though. The bamboo of the rod section is in excellent overall condition with no cracks, gouges, or delamination. Simply put, I don't think a finer example of this ultra rare saltwater rod could ever be found, and it is apparent that it didn't see much use. This rod would also make an excellent big-fish freshwater rod-especially for strippers or big cats-and it is definitely cast-able. The winning bidder agrees to pay a flat economy rate of $20.

This two piece bamboo saltwater boat rod needs to have the two missing guides replaced to be ready to go. The reel seat has some corrosion. Is frozen and needs lubrication to free up. Old man Fred has had this for over 50 years; 80" long one piece Bamboo saltwater fishing pole which is still solid. Each and every eye let and the Tip too, we can not find any issues with the rod! It has this big old Senator Penn Fishing Tackle reel on it with very heavy weight dirty old string and it has a split in the wooden knob. USPS said that it would be over 108" length and girth total so it looks like we will have to take the reel off and send them separate in 2 boxes. We will have to confirm the shipping cost for you before you pay, so do not pay until we send you a Invoice but it looks like it would be about $50 for the rod to the east coast, and then more then likely $12.95 for a flat rate box for the reel. This beautiful Japanese split Bamboo saltwater rod is in near mint never used condition. All the finish is just about perfect excepting one guide is loose. And one wrapping is also loose. These two defects can be viewed in the last photo. The rod is three piece and nine feet long. It has five bright Orange bakelite guide inserts. And wood butt. The wood box is in excellent condition. Overall in excellent cosmetic condition. These two rods are perfect for restoration or for parts. Very small amounts of patination on chrome. Varnish still intact. As shown in picture, the line feeds(if that's what you call them) are all loose. The pouches are still supple, and one has a label showing model# One rod's rubber bumper( has a ding.Decals 100% intact. Please ask questions before bidding and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Vintage Saltwater Deep Sea Fishing Bamboo Rod Double Eye" Skipper" Rod Pole Here is a vintage fishing rod made of bamboo. Not sure of the maker of this rod. But it is stamped" Skipper" Their is also another stamping, but it is not very legible. It appears that it is stamped" Super- Cane" but not real sure. This rod measures about 5 foot 6 inches when assembled. As you can tell from the pictures, the end of the butt contains a red rubber piece. Wood handle is in good to great condition. All hardware is also in good condition, except for the tip eye. The tip eye is broken. The cane is all in good condition, except for some slight separation in the strips in two areas( nothing major) Could use some glue if desired. This rod is very well intact& also very sturdy. Contains 6 sides, each strip measuring 5/16" ... morewhere the handle meets. A unique feature about this rod is that it contains double eyes on each side of the rod on the tip section. Vintage Custom Made Bamboo Saltwater or Boat Rod
I got this rod at an Estate Sale. They said the 90 year old owner said it was custom made and that he used it when he was young. There is no name on it. Really neat handle and it is in super condition. Pictures show condition. This appears to be a 1 piece rod. I don't see where the handle can be taken off like a fiberglass boat rod. The total length is 85 1/2" from tip to bottom of the rubber butt.
