He started out selling bamboo poles, but then later took the simplest of fishing rods to a higher quality level by initiating specially grown bamboo for the purpose. THIS IS A VINTAGE LEW'S POLE'S CANE/ BAMBOO POLE 3 PIECES AND 14' LONG Encased inside a Vintage Last 60s Kent Zoom-Lok Rod Case Lew Childre started out selling shrimp as bait to fishermen, and then that evolved into a small tackle shop. One day while pulling a bamboo pole out of the stack for a customer, Lew was disappointed with the inconsistency from one pole to the next. Three 10' Lew's 2 Piece Vintage Bamboo Cane Fishing Pole/Rod
I bought these fishing poles at an estate sale. I found them up in the rafters of the garage where they were extremely dirty and don't seem to have been used in a long time. Two of the poles have Lew's fishing pole stickers on them. The third pole(the pole in the center of the pictures) has no sticker or identifying marks and appears to be different than the others. I cannot guarantee that the top half and the bottom halves of these poles all match up correctly. But they appear to fit together. Let me know if you have any questions. 2 Vintage LEW'S Bamboo Cane Pole Fishing Rod 2-JR & 5-102 NEW!!!
You are bidding on a nice lot of 2 vintage bamboo cane poles from Lew's. The larger one is model 5-102 and it is the 10 foot 2 piece. The second is model 2-JR and it is junior model and it's 7.5 feet, also a 2 piece pole. It comes with a bobber and fishing line. They are both unused with the original plastic sealed at the top. They are in very nice condition with a few light scuffs but no breaks. The junior one has a split in one of the knots- I think it may have been made that way but can't say for sure. They are a little dusty but these are really neat poles and are perfect for catching pan fish in those hard to get to spots. They bring back lots of memories of fishing with my dad back in the 60s. This is a nice vintage 12 foot. 3 piece LEW CHILDRE cane pole made in Japan. It is still in the original factory plastic wrap. I'm not sure of its age but there is part of a green price sticker on the wrap that I believe shows a price of one dollar thirty something so it obviously has some age to it.
