EXTREMELY RARE VINTAGE SATTERLEE SPOKANE STEEL FISHING ROD POLE **WOW**LOOK**
Up for auction is an EXTREMELY RARE VINTAGE SATTERLEE SPOKANE STEEL FISHING ROD POLE. The only information I could find on this pole was a newspaper article from 1948 about a small factory in Spokane that hand made these steel fishing rods. You can read the article if you google"Satterlee fishing" The handle is made of fine grade well-seasoned maple that Satterlee acquired from old discarded school desks. This pole is approx 69" long. It does separate as shown in photos. I see a line across the fastening section that I'm not sure is supposed to be there. There is some slight rust on the pole but it is still in very good condition for it's age. There is a water spot on the wood which I also captured in the photos. I have never seen a more unusual fishing rod in my 20+ years of collecting. This rod is late 1800's or super early 1900's. It is made from hollow steel. it was made by and marked EVER READY ROD& GAFF CO. BURLINGTON WIS. I have researched this setup for years and I have not found anything! Not even a hint as to this company. The amazing part to this rod is that if you twist and pull the handle a spear type gaff comes out! Amazing! After landing your fish you simply insert the gaff back into the rod. It is very solid and high quality. The gaff point is needle sharp and removable.The guides are all agate. It is solid. It is missing the finger grip and has some ware on the cork grip and rod has ware but overall it is in great condition! The rod looks to be extremely old to me as a layman. It measures 116" long. There are 4 sections. There is a slight puzzle as you can see there are 4 sections but only 3 will fit together. The 4th section will fit into the end of the second but does not have an eye on the end it has the wooden dowel. It loooks to be part of the rod, but I can't work it out unless it is a spare last section. This rod was designed for ultra light action but the tip has been broken so the rod is a little stronger than the original design. Rod was originally 5 feet and 2 inches long and designed for 1/32- 1/8 oz. lure. The rod now measures 4 feet 8 and 1/2 inches long instead of 5 feet and 2 inches. The rod model number is SSK 520. There are a few scratches/scrapes on the rod’s finish. But not much so it has a nice appearance. It has five ceramic guides and wraps(I replaced the tip guide which the ceramic insert does not match the color of the original guides) The handle is all cork with sliding rings to hold the reel. **LOOK** Vintage Vicki (brand) Fly Fishing Rod in Box with Flies - Made in Japan
This fly rod is a Vicki(brand) Made in Japan. I really don't know much about them. I'm selling this for my little friend of the family who is 11. He's saving up to buy a fly-tying rig. The box is nearly 34" long. The rod has 5 pieces. The base with the handle. And then a middle piece to use with two other ends, and then another end to be used right with the base, so it would be shorter(trees in the way? Some of the connectors come off. And some of the windings need repair. There are a bunch of flies behind plastic. The box needs help. Veneer is loose and one clasp is only half there.
