Complimented with an Actionglas model 451 5' fiberglass fishing pole also in great complete and original condition. RARE VINTAGE METAL ACTION ROD ORCHARD INDUSTRIES/ DETRIOT/ / REEL&ORIGINAL.BOX
This is a great old Vintage ACTION-ROD made byOrchad Industries in Detriot Mich. The Rod is metal and looks virtually industructable and has the original hard wood protector and original cloth case. The cloth case has a hole or two in the bottom and the zipper is broken. The wooden pc. is 54 inches long with the total lengh of the rod being around 53 inches with about 3 inches of those inches sliding into the handle and screwing securely to the handle. The handle measures 10 3/4 inches and is stamped Thomas G. Lehman and has two screw adjustments. One to attach the reel and the other to attach the rod. If you have never held one of these you can't fully appreciate how the handle fits your hand with the finger hold feeling as comfortable as your arm. With this metal Action Rod you will recieve a vintage Shakespeare Marrhoff Lever Winding ... moreReel 1964 in its original box and contents which was with the rod when found. It was issued to one Joseph Carlson of Detroit, Mich. on August 8, 1933. This is a very clean old rod. Please check out the pictures carefully. There is no physical damage on it anywhere. All of the line guides and wraps are intact. Straight and tight. The guide wraps are made of copper wire. There is no rust on it presently but there is some pitting along the rod blade. This is a very unique piece of Americana fishing history and it will add significantly to most any vintage or antique fishing tackle collection. This auction is for a vintage Orchard Industries Action rod with a Pflugger Trump reel. The rod is metal and measures 55" long. There are 4 eyelets. The handle on fishing rod I believe is called a pistol grip. The handle is made of a red or maroon colored either bakelite or plastic and the light gray I believe is plastic. Under the reel. On the rod handle it reads: Action- Rod Orchard Industries Inc. Detroit 12, Michigan. Patent No. 1920966 or Pat. Pend. The reel is marked: Pflugger Trump Trade Mark No. 1943 Made in U.S.A. Orchard Industries Action Rod - Metal Fishing Rod Vintage Antique Detroit
Up for auction is a Orchard Industries Action Rod Vintage metal fishing rod and red/white bakelite handle. Overall very nice shape for its age. Does show some wear from use. Rod length of 53" and the handle measures 10 3/4" Comes in the carry case(what I believe to be original) and wooden holder for the rod. No bends in the rod and the eyelets are straight. The handle is also in great shape with no cracks in the bakelite. There is some slight flaking on the left side of the handle where the reel would sit and there are two rips in the carry case as well as some bowing in the wood rod holder, show in the pictures. THEY WERE FOUND IN MY GRANDFATHERS OLD FISHING& HUNTING CAMP IN WESTERN PA MOUNTAINS AND ARE PRETTY GOOD CONDITION FOR AGE. THE ROD HANDLE LOOKS TO BE INTERCHANGABLE WITH OTHER RODS HAS AN ADJUSTABLE FERRAL THE TIGHTENS AND LOCKS UP. THE HANDLE READS ACTIONROD ORCHARD INDUSTRIES INC. HASTINGS. Orchard Industries 55" Action-Rod steel rod w/ Bakelite handle Also includes Pflueger Nobby Reel This rare. Collectible metal fishing rod was made by Orchard Industries in Detroit, Michigan. It measures 55" in total length. The Bakelite handle can be disassembled from the rod and is Sage Green and Brown in color. Joseph Carlson applied for the patent# 1920966 in 1929 and it was approved in 1937 I believe that this rod was produced in the late 1930s to the mid 1940s when production switched from steel to"glass" due to the war Rod is in GREAT shape. Orchard Industries Action Rod with Langley Streamlite Bait Casting Reel
This auction is for a rod and reel combination. The rod is an Orchard Industries Action Rod which was made I believe in the 1930s. It has plastic handles and the rod is solid steel. The line guides are attached with tightly wound wire. The rod is about 43 inches long overall. The reel is a Langley Streamlite Model 310KC which I believe is from the mid to late 1940s. The reel is a direct drive baitcasting reel with adjustable spool tension and an audible clicker that can be turned off. The rod and handles are in great shape. The reel seat area on the rod has some surface corrosion-see my picture for condition. The reel is excellent overall. The handle has a chip in the aluminum part of the handle. Rods are in fair condition, you can see both show some corrosion, tarnishing, and rust. The end loop on the one rod is broken off and the other rod was unscrewed from the handle.
