It has multi-color wrapping around the eyes& has 5 eyes guides. It measures approx 5' 7" long. The rod is marked: FAIRFAX 65L. The glass rod is dirty& needs to be cleaned. 2) Brown Rod has 5 eyes guides with multi-colored wrapping around the eyes. It measures approx 5' 8 3/4" long. Vintage Antique Fishing Pole True Temper Square Metal Fishing Rod Unique!
This is a rare find! It is a metal fishing rod. About 55 inches long by True Temper. It is constructed of square metal. The eyelets are in good shape and I included pictures of the cork handle which has had some wear. I live in Wisconsin and have seen thousands of old rods and this is a one of a kind. Found in an old fishing camp of northwoods Wisconsin, I have had this on display for years. But with six kids, I need the money and it is time for it to find a home with a collector or someone who appreciates the northwoods history. Please let me know if you have any questions. Old True Temper Steel Rod- The American Fork and Hoe Co. Cleveland Ohio A Great Christmas Gift! I have had this for years and never used it. I have not tried to clean it or repair it. It is in the same condition as I found it- in the rafters of my first house. The others I saw researching this piece all seem alittle different in their construction? I haven't seen one exactly like this one. I cannot find a model# other than seen in pic#11 and not sure what is says? The patent info side needs cleaned to read as it is gunked up and some rust over the lettering. The cork looks good to very good to me. The canvas is discolored and has spots. THe eyelet has pulled out of the canvas. There is some shrinkage but it seems like it stretched back into shape it would all go back if this is for restoration? The silver colored metals all have some ... moresurface"corrosions" or discolorations in varing degrees? The bottom silver end disk is either pitted by corrosion or abrasion form use/abuse or storage? Looks like an easy sand/buff? The silver metal on the grip area seems good but has some lightly shiney areas and some darker areas. The metal is smooth with no pitting. That is about all I can describe plus the pictures. Up for auction is an antique True Temper fishing rod made by American Fork and Hoe Company. Cleveland, Ohio. Looks to be excellent condition despite the fact it is around 75 years old, give or take. This rod was made from 1925- mid 1950's. There is a nice blog about this rod at this address: Eyelets are secured with copper then tinned over. Eyelets are lined with a ceramic- like material. Cork handle is clean with original indents for grip. Measures approx. 56 inches. Give or take. Original canvas carrying case has a few minimal rips and fastener is complete and works. This is a True Temper Raider Square Steel rod. It measures 55 1/2" from tip to handle end. It is in nice shape, just dirty. Has Pat no 80990 has a second one also but did not get it. Also has a Pflueger Summit 1993L Jeweled reel that works just fine, well used and missing one of the jewel caps, the crank side cap. I love finding setups like this, just like when Grandpa put it away.

Antique True Temper Fishing Rod Square Steel 55" 1 piece. Bakelite Handle PP
Antique True Temper(American Fork and Hoe Co. Square Steel Fishing Rod. 55 inch, 1 piece. Marked Patent Pending. Probably dates from 1925 to 1930 when True Temper received their first patents. But I could be wrong. There are no patent numbers(or numbers of any kind) to be found on the piece. It does not have the Speedlock introduced in the mid 30's but the standard screw and plate. Two of the three guides are secure. The third could use a tightening but is not in danger of falling off. The Bakelite part of the handle is in good condition with no cracks or chips, just surface wear. The cork handle shows wear but no missing pieces. It has been repaired(re-glued) by an amateur at some point(see photos) The Bakelite name plate under the reel mount has a crack. The rod is secure in the handle. All in all, the rod is in good shape. Vintage "True Temper Perfect" Square Rod with "Speedlock Handle"
A vintage'True Temper Perfect' square tempered steel fishing rod made by the American Fork and Hoe Co. Rod has two patent numbers on it. One is#80990 granted in April of 1930 and the other is#1755159 granted in April of 1930. The guides were wrapped on with fine copper wire which was then tinned over. The length is 46-3/4" which includes 1-3/4 base that attaches to the handle. The rod was an instant success starting a new trend in fishing rods. The rod is in excellent condition. Also offered for sale is the infamous Speedlock rod handle Pat. No. 2102237. On the inside of the reel seat engraved is"A True Temper product Genova Ohio. The handle is enhanced with marbled bone colored bakelite. The rod and handles are in the original well-worn tan canvas True Temper bag with a metal case inside to protect the rod. What we have up for auction are: 3 Vintage True Temper Fishing Rods All original decals imprinted on. Square Steel Rods. 2 have Bakelite fore-grip. One is steel. inside handles etched"A True Temper Product, GENEVA, OHIO" All have decent cork handle, no large chips, cracks. Each have 4 eyelets all intact and in good shape. Here is a NICE vintage True Temper. 4 1/2' ONE piece, SQUARE SHAFT, STEEL CASTING ROD in very nice condition. Nice metal and a cork handle. The three eyelets and tip are nice as are all the wraps. Antique American Fork& Hoe 6 foot lake/salt water fishing pole. In great shape for it's age. The metal has patina ed over the years. Wood handle is in great shape, does have a spot of wood putty(see pic) but is other wise pretty solid. All the eyelets are on this and seem to be solid. A beautiful piece to display or just to use.
