Vintage P&K Modernist split bamboo tonkin cane fly fishing rod 8 1/2 feet long
I have for sale a hard to find and great size vintage 8&1/2 food split bamboo fly rod with tube and sock. Ready for fishing or collecting. Label is P&K otherwise known as Pachner and Koller out of Chicago. Rod looks like it was made by Horrocks and Ibbotson(H&I) There are two re-wraps on the mid section but all sections are equal length. Beautiful agate or agatine stripper guide on the butt section. each section measures 35 inches long and when fitted together the rod is 102 inches or 8 feet. 6 inches long. Nice length for a 3 piece rod. Rod probably dates to late 1940's early 1950's. Check out the pictures!

Vintage. Split Bamboo Fly& Casting Combo Rod, named the"Big Bear Combo" made with"Tonkin Cane" This fly and casting rod combination are in good used condition. The rod in casting configuration is two pieces, approximately 68" in length. The fly configuration is three pieces, approximately 103" in length. The reel holder tightens firmly. The handle is cork and does have a chunk out of it(probably where hooks were placed into it, see pictures) The center section of the fly configuration has slightly darker cane and the wrappings are dark blue not dark green, however all the pieces fit together properly and firm. VINTAGE BAMBOO BOAT/CASTING FISHING ROD TWO PIECE - TONKIN CANE
You are bidding on a VINTAGE BAMBOO BOAT/CASTING FISHING ROD with old style(thick metal) double guides on the tip section and one tip guide. It has a nice handle and metal reel seat. There is nothing wrong mechanically that I can see. However the female ferrule and tip guide have been wrapped with what looks to be some kind of red tape(looks orange in the photos due to the flash) The female ferrule also looks to have been wrapped with a silver material(I would not call it tape but more of a decal looking type of material- looks white in photos due to flash but is silver in color) These wraps look nice and seem to be quite tight. The ferrule connection fits together nicely. It measures 5 feet and 6 inches long when assembled. The rubber end cap on the handle does not appear to be the original as it appears to be not as long as would the original. ... moreIt does show some scuffs or stains to affect the appearance somewhat, but a lot of this will clean up. On the side of the rod I can make out the words Tonkin Cane in cursive writing and a number that is M/ 97(can’t be sure of the 97, it might be 99 or some other combination) Pictures are part of the description. Horrocks Ibbotson, "Beaver" Split Bamboo Fly Rod "Tonkin Cane" 8'6"
Nicely restored approx. 8 ft. 9 inch Horrocks Ibbotson Beaver. There are 3 rod sections. No cracks, or crazing in the finish. There are no defects in the bamboo. The varnish is very good. Both the model Beaver and the Horrocks decal reasonably good shape for being around 70 years old. There are no cracks, corrosion or other ferrule defects. The cork handle and reel seat are new with new insert. All snake guides are double footed with new wraps. I have fished this rod since restoration and it is FUN. Great little 4-5 wt. The original cloth bag is in pretty good shape.

Vintage Union Hardware Tonkin Cane Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a vintage union hardware Tonkin cane bamboo fly rod in excellent used condition. Fly rod is in like new condition and comes with original sock. But no tube. Rod is a 3 piece and comes with extra tip. Fly rod is in all original condition and line guides are clean, tight and pieces are very straight. First line guide looks to be slightly bent but still very glossy and tightly wrapped. Length of fly rod is just over 9 feet and each piece is about 37 inches in length. Union hardware and made in the USA is stamped on reel seat of rod. Handle is very clean and shows no wear as rod may have only been used once or twice, reel seat is made of plastic. Manufacturer: Horrocks& Ibbotson Co. Utica New York 3 piece 2 tips Model: Governor Fly Rod Tonkin cane bamboo Handle: Cork Defects: The middle piece has one line guide rethreaded. One tip section has a line guide with a scuff on threads and the spacing is off slightly(see the magnified picture of tip) The bamboo is tight inside the ferrule. On Oct-09-14 at 08:07:02 PDT. Vintage Horrocks-Ibbotson Tonkin Cane Bamboo 5 1/2' Fish Rod /Jamaica Ithica NY
Welcome. Up for auction here is a vintage Horrocks-Ibbotson Tonkin Cane Fish Rod. It is a two piece rod and measures 5 1/2 feet. Jamaica" is inscribed above the fore-grip. A beautiful rod! Guides wrapped with multi colored magenta and almost orange/brown thread. Threads have darkened with age. Section above fore-grip painted brick-red and trimmed with thread. Genuine Tonkin Cane" H-I label is chipped and"I" in"H-I" is missing. Chrome reel-seat and ferrules have some minor scratches and slight corrosion from age. Rear-grip and fore-grips are made of a dark wood. The winding check above fore-grip and tip-top and guides have a golden hue which seems to be from ambered varnish that may have been applied to rod. The rear rubber butt-cap is red and has stains on it.Some of the threads on the lower single guide have ... morebroken( see last two photos) Comes with a green cloth case that is a little tattered and reads"Jamaica Boat Rod H-I Utica NY no.02706" Guides and tip-top seem to have no wear on them. A very handsome rod! Aside from the stained rubber butt-cap.The rod seems to be un-used or slightly used. This rod may have been restored(I don't think so) but, I cannot tell for sure.
